Since Covid hit, my musical creative life has been pretty active. I’ve been engaging in a bunch of online collaborations! if you told me last fall that I’d be pretty close to having an album worth of material- including online collaborations with many folks I’ve never met face to face- I would of thought you were crazy! Yet, it’s happening-slowly but surely. This track is called “Doing Now”, featuring myself on weissenborn, percussion and vocals, @dannygarrettharmonica playing some incredible harmonica (we’ve never met face to face!) @jasonamullinax aka @musicdiscoverylab on melodic percussion, and-featured in this clip- my awesome friend @spaceman_ian laying down some bass! Over time, I’ve begun to understand that collaboration is part of my art. I can playing many things myself, but I just really enjoy hearing what other folks bring to the table. Jamming on a C# minor blues progression last night after a long day. Playing a hollow body strat with a warmoth rosewood neck (it’s a large size-like a baseball bat) custom made by my friend @ruggibarr -a long time ago, early in his guitar tinkering days, he got this neck and I always lusted after it! Eventually, he offered this guitar to me in a trade, and no way could I turn it down. Playing with my fingers on electric of course makes me thinking of my no.1 childhood guitar hero @markknopfler (dire straits first self titled is a masterpiece in my opinion), but I also get a lot of inspiration from @robbenfordmusic (tiger walk is a great album). But it’s all the blues, so of course BB King is at the top (Live from San Quentin in my favorite BB album). Not my tightest playing, but maybe it’ll turn folks into some music!
