Rosemary Lemonade and Forest Cider by Pyewackets. I picked these up at my local bulk food store, the Lemonade mixer is so good!!!! The Forest Cider is very obviously a health tonic so it's very strong and not for sipping on leisurely imo 😅
Here we go! First venture into lacto-fermentation. Vegetables and then a sauerkraut on the end.
Since there's no work right now in the garden, I'm trying out more ferments! First one is hot peppers, for hot sauce, I'm just about to close it up. I've never tried hot sauce, and I haven't seen it here at all, but I 'm curious about it. The instructions said, cut hot peppers, put them in jar, add water, add 2% salt in the water. It's supposed to ferment for 10 days, shaken every day, then strained, mixed with spices and vinegar and blended. I've cheated a little, used a few sweet peppers, I don't want it very hot. I hope it still works. And I still don't have a blender but I'll deal with that problem when we get to it.
Second one is apple peels and mandarine peels, I'm trying for another cleaning vinegar, someone in the comments recommended this mix! It's gonna take 3 months at least, so, update in February. Last one is apple vinegar you saw me make, I realized later it needs to be stirred every day to prevent mold, but since I've been stirring, it's going fine.
It might all fail but it's not a huge waste, I will learn how to do it right and next time have a much better idea of what I'm doing. I'm keeping them in the dark pantry and they look beautiful on the shelf! The witch vibe alone is worth having stuff suspended in water. Do this to feel like you're using the power of nature to transform and preserve food.
kombucha & kimchi from the local farmer’s market 👌 (empanadas not pictured cause I ate them)
