fender (guitar manufacturer) semi-recently won a court case in Germany against a Chinese guitar manufacturer selling on AliExpress, stating that the Stratocaster guitar body shape qualified as a "copyrighted work of applied art" and that it served as legal precedent (at least in the EU) for the illegality of stratlike guitar models by non-Fender manufacturers
only problem is that it was a default court ruling, as a representative of the Chinese manufacturer didn't (couldn't?) show up. yet Fender has very recently started using the ruling to issue cease and desists to several notable guitar manufacturers. this includes Yamaha for their Pacifica guitar design, which is the world's largest musical instrument manufacturer
you might also know the pacifica as being the guitar that Bocchi gets at the end of season 1 of Bocchi the Rock
this also notably comes 17 years after Fender lost a case to trademark the stratocaster guitar shape (amongst others) in the US, where the trademark trial & appeal board stated of the Stratocaster: "this configuration is so common that it is depicted as a generic electric guitar in a dictionary."
there are various other manufacturers who produce stratocaster-like guitar designs (such as ESP's Snapper, notably played by Poppin' Party's Hanazono Tae), but not all guitar manufacturers have yet publicly confirmed whether or not they have received a C&D
