i think a lot of poeple think of racism and sexism as something you have to actively opt in to perpetuate rather than something you have to continuously actively opt out of if you want to maybe help dismantle it

I don’t think you have to forgive your bullies but you absolutely do have to come to terms with the fact that you’re probably not going to have that magical moment where you’re rich and successful with a vibrant social life and they’re a twice divorced unemployed schlub who’s stuck in whatever type of job that’s most demeaning to you and you get to tell them all of the things you wanted to tell them and then they apologize and kill themselves and that they probably are living a totally normal and unexceptionable existence because life and likely don’t even remember that they hurt you because life doesn’t have some magical moral equalizer button and realize that you don’t owe them revenge anyway because your life is yours to live not theirs and that no that person that’s prettier than you or more successful than you is not actually your bully in disguise and they didn’t do anything to merit being the misplaced target of your trauma and resentment.

i really cannot stand the character archetype in film of the "unpopular nerdy ugly girl" being portrayed by the most conventionally attractive, thin, clear-skinned actress ever you cannot tell me that amanda goddamn seyfried was some fugly lesbigay loser as a foil to megan fox you cannot tell me beloved babyfaced winona ryder was a social outcast at her school you cannot convince me that rachel sennott and ayo edebiri are notoriously "ugly, untalented gays" even riverdale lampshaded this by fully acknowledging that cheryl shouldnt have starred as carrie in the school play and it shouldve been ethel cause ethel is The Fat One Nobody Likes and ethel even IS chubby enough that you could actually consider her "fat" but she's still an acceptably Cute type of fat but in the end she STILL gets denied the role anyway. real ugly and/or fat girls are straight up not allowed to exist on camera even when the narrative tells you they're there they're not actually there. im just so tired. where is the acne. we as a society have GOT to accept that it is okay if we get blocked. you do not have the right to interact with every single person on the internet. "but then i can't interact with their content" yes that is the point "but i didn't do anything" no one owes you an explanation and you don't have to have "done something" to be blocked. let it go
