Here is the animation that i did 2 years ago but forgot it untill now
sounds very similar to a radio story i heard in 2014 ago about credit card debt. the debt got sold to a collection company and a couple received a court summons. they knew they had taken on debt, but they were confused about who this new company was and where specifically the number they were supposed to owe came from.
they show up in court and just ask the lawyer for the collection company: can you prove where this number comes from? Do you have a contract showing that you purchased our debt? probably luckily for them, a reporter researching a book on the topic showed up and asked the same questions.
10 minutes later they get in front of the judge and the collection company drops the whole case and theyre free to go. story is below, it has a transcript in the link too
Ira talks to reporter Jake Halpern about a scene he saw take place in a Georgia courtroom where a couple uttered some magic words that seeme
In passing, it looks like any typical collection of '90s beige. These pictures do not do justice to the LaCie Tsunami.
Tsunami was first advertised (as far as I've been able to find) in MacWorld May 1990 and sold well into the latter half of the decade.
To me, Tsunami is the epitome of early '90s design. It is the '80s Memphis-Milano design style of bold colors and assorted geometric forms distilled down to one scalloped edge, a single brief non-functional decorative line, a row of evenly-spaced dots, and one large circle. It is the chaos of over-the-top form-over-function visual noise reduced to a handful of non-overlapping shapes washed in boring '90s computer beige and grey. It is from that point at the apex of a design trend where the trend's makeup is so well understood it can be referenced by merely hinting at constituent components.
Removed from its context, the design seems strange. It defiantly lacks symmetry. Its embellishments sit on top of the form, lacking any obvious purpose or cohesion with each other or the whole. The product name only minimally informs a single aspect of the design. The only thing really breaking up this monotony of beige is one offset grey cylinder cutting across the face. These seemingly disparate elements are all that are left of the haphazardly stacked shapes, thick bold lines, and loud colors of the design movement which gave birth to it.
And yet the design is balanced. Breaking perhaps from the direction the tend moved, it doesn't feel as though it will topple over at any moment. The extreme weight of the grey cylinder is countered by the tiny dash extending past the end of the case on the one side, and by a window-like square of four smaller squares on the other side. When placed wave-side down, the dots serve as a sort of foundation; when wave-side up, the dots buoyantly draw the eye to the crest of each wave like bubbles underwater with the other elements anchoring the design to the seafloor. In all, it takes what would otherwise be a plain beige box and turns it into something interesting and dynamic, without resorting to the arrays of lines or dots which plagued its contemporaries in the computer industry (as seen in the initial photo).
And that's why I like it. It is a product of its era that does everything it can to visually stand out from the products of its era. It could only have existed in the time period in which it lived.
I have briefly mentioned the Tsunami here before, when I repaired a unit that I had found at Computer Reset. Its drive is long since dead and its case is looking far more brown than beige, but with some repairs its power supply still works. I use it whenever I need an external enclosure for a SCSI device, though it often just holds a BlueSCSI or similar. It's just too great of an example of its era of design not to hold on to.

You cannot hide this in the tags, bestie. This is too lovely to keep a secret.
It may not be apparent to everyone how to easily find out who wrote the poem in the tags, so: @mumblesplash
(an instant-classic example of a Tumblr thread where so many people add value!)
So wherever you look, be it near or far,
know Hope can be found wherever you are.
Avee just striking a pose! :3
hey here's a website for downloading any video or image from any website.
works w/ youtube, soundcloud, twitch, twitter (gifs and videos), tumblr (video and audio), and most other websites you're probably lookin to download stuff off of.
for anyone wondering about privacy and whatnot, i'm happy to say that the developers are pretty committed to have 0 trackers and 0 data retention. you can read more in their "about" section, but here's the basic important stuff:
COBALT MENTIONED OUTSIDE OF TWITTER???
^ (one of the lead devs that made cobalt)
thank you for your thingy, it's real useful 🙏
MORE spidah cause I like the them :3c
THERE IS. a website. that takes 3D models with seams and pulls it apart to make a plushie pattern and informs you where things need to be edited or darts added for the best effect. and then it lets you scale it and print off your pattern. and I want to lose my MIND because I've lost steam halfway through so many plushie patterns in the mind numbing in betweens of unwrapping, copying all of the meshes down as pieces, transferring those, testing them, then finding obvious tweaks... like... this would eradicate 99% of my trial and error workflow for 3D models to plushies & MAYBE ILL FINALLY FINISH SCREAMTAIL...
so this website let's you:
import a model
create seams in browser
tells you how accurately the seams will recreate the model when sewn
let's you designate fur direction
let's you import markings so the pattern shows exactly where they go on the piece
let's you add little measurements on the model that are also visible on the pattern
let's you paint the model to play with fabric colors
let's you name each piece so it's easy to sort the pieces later
let's you scale it beside a human
then calculates how much of each type of fabric you need, BASED ON YOUR DESIRED SEAM ALLOWANCE..
and finally gives you the finished pattern with the detailed names and instructions it's transcribed from your notes
this is. beyond. this is BEYOND. and as far as I can see it's free???

In hindsight it's very insulting to be told that flunking out of college due to adhd is actually "quite common"
just like, if there's a history at your institution of disabled kids not being able to make it you realise that's your fault right. like why don't you fucking do something about it. i guess they tried to do something about it with me and it failed so they let me go. crazy. nice work. why should we try to do any better.
only 5% of people with adhd who go to college finish a degree. FUCKING. FIVE!!! PERCENT!!!!!!!!!!!
that should disgust and enrage you.
if any other demographic of students had a 95% failure rate, we would be demanding reform and studies to understand why that’s happening
when i was at my first university, trying to get accommodations for my ADHD, they just kept asking me what accommodations i wanted, and refused to answer when i would ask what was available to me. how the Hell am i supposed to know what i can have? what’s available???? also, i don’t know!!!! i’m an adhd sufferer, not a fucking disability expert for the fucking college, unlike you, DISABILITY EXPERT WHO WORKS FOR THE COLLEGE.
but because the us is OBSESSED with making sure no one gets anything “”for free””, she literally would not tell me what my options were until i broke down in tears and asked her why she was refusing to help me. and then she did a big sigh, like i was fucking up her entire career by *checks notes* asking the disability center in my university to help me, a disabled student
at the second uni i went to, i tried to explain to a dean that i was literally two gen eds that had nothing to do with my degree away from graduating and that i was burnt out and broke and exhausted and suicidal and i just needed to be able to finish my degree without the gen eds. and this. fucking. guy. looked me right in my face and said in the most patronizing tone he could muster “if you can’t handle it, then maybe college just isn’t for you.” keep in mind that up until that semester, i had been an honor student who made Dean’s List every semester and didn’t get below Bs. if it hadn’t been for my mental breakdown, i would have graduated cum laude, maybe even summa cum laude.
but this dean of students looked a disabled person right in the face and said well i guess you just can’t do it, short bus
Pulled these from a couple articles really quick but yeah the statistics are not kind. I remember writing a scathing essay about my issues with ADHD and college as part of an assignment for academic probation. I got back an email calling me entitled and lazy. Somehow, this thread helps me feel a lot better. I still have about a semester of school unfinished that I’m unsure if I’ll finish but… yeah. Makes me feel better to know it’s not just me.

my kuchipatchi plush comes to life to help me
out of habit, i try not to overexplain my comics, but this seems to be a reoccuring question here.
the purpose of this comic IS to promote better habits, not to shame people out of using medication when theyre in pain. the problem here is not the use of pain relievers, but
1) taking them on an empty stomach and long term can cause organ damage
2) by not changing the lifestyle that lead to my pain, i wasnt doing anything to lessen it or change the outcome. i was getting used to my own hurting and coming to expect it
at the end of the day, i have changed my habits so that i now do not need to take pain reliever, almost ever. but the purpose of this comic was to remind people not to become so used to their own pain it becomes a routine part of their day. some people have chronic conditions, its true, but for a lot of people there are small things you can do to improve your life so that it hurts less.
if my moral here is 'dont become so accustomed to your own pain you consider poor self care the norm', why would i ever shame anyone out of trying to relieve pain so they can sleep better? if i had just said 'grit your teeth, sleep terribly, just deal with the pain' ? thats sillieness. come on now
hi!!!!! it's rough out here, especially when you're a part-time employee loser. i'm trying my damndest to save so i can get outta this fuckass house, so please consider d*nating for a doodle! thank you!!!
