I'm desperately hoping that we'll have an arc about Hirano really learning to lean on Kagiura. Like, yeah he got to learn basketball from him, but that's not really a display of Trust, right? Hirano is a guy with a decent sense of responsibility. He goes furthest for Kagiura, obviously, but in general he's a guy who looks after others--Miyano, Sasaki, being on the disciplinary committee, the teachers always asking him to help out with stuff. I think it's part of his like. I don't want to say inflexible, but maybe rather straightforward thinking? Which I'm sure helps him with academic studies, but human relationship stuff is much more wibbly wobbly, and that's where he struggles. Not in that he lacks good interpersonal relationships, of course! Like, in many ways, it's exactly normal for all teenagers to still be figuring out How Humans/Relationships Work. He knows the general Rules of how to interact with people, and also honestly people respond well to his style of straightforwardly approaching things without being pushy. I am overthinking. I have Many Thoughts. Hirano is an extremely likeable guy who likes to do things that benefit others, most of all Kagiura. Looking after people is the right thing to do! It's good and honorable AND rewarding. ANYWAY.

ALL OF THIS TO SAY, Hirano is used to standing on his own. Not in a bad way, he is obviously supported by his parents, things seem fine there since he mentioned feeling homesick in the light novel and all (which might be part of it, he's in a privileged position where he has the tools to stand on his own without that requiring crazy extra work) (SOON, HOPEFULLY SOON WE LEARN MORE. DAD CONTACT ON PHONE. COLLEGE IS COMING.) This is a slice of life, modern story, it's literally fine, he's fine. Which is why relying on anyone is so awkward for him. But Kagiura wants it.

And the thing is. The thing is. It is nice to lean on Kagiura.

He doesn't know how to do it. But when Kagiura grabs him, when they hug. Just for a second he can hide behind those big shoulders. He can rest there.

LITERALLY BEING SO SO SERIOUS WHEN I SAY I WROTE THE EXACT SAME CONCEPTS IN THE TAGS OF ANOTHER POST THE OTHER DAY but then I had a moment of oh my god. I gotta stop being so horny on main, and I deleted them all. They're switches, and they do their first time with Hirano taking Kagiura from behind (maybe researched, I think I've heard that's the easiest position), but then from the front because wanting to see his face (who's face? yes). But also!!! I bet it'll go exactly like this chapter, with Hirano being able to handle it when he's in control, but being far less sure about letting Kagiura take control.

Every time, Kagiura begs, Hirano balks, they look for what they both want, let Hirano be in charge, then Kagiura pushes a little more. But then Jason was (mostly) well behaved so it didn’t feel necessary and then Tim wasn’t technically his kid at first so it would’ve been weird, so by the time any of the post-Tim batkids roll around, Bruce has forgotten about the concept of microchipping his children (and he absolutely does not remember that Dick is chipped)

The problem is that everyone thinks the batkids are microchipped because Bruce always knows exactly where they are (Barbara tracks their devices) and it’s not like Bruce is gonna tell people that his kids aren’t chipped and expose a potential security flaw

So basically all the batkids think they’re microchipped but Dick is the only one who is actually microchipped

I see this coming to a head with one of the kids having to go through regular airport security or something and asking if the microchip will set off the metal detector, and then Bruce will say “none of you are actually microchipped” at the same time that Dick will say “yes, but just tell them you have a pacemaker”

the thing is, I do think that Miyano is NOT equipped to deal with Hirano's aroaceness, especially when he's still stewing in comphet juice. BUT i think it could make them a really funny slowburn.

miyano who just. continues seeing hirano as #1 real life moe blorbo. hirano who, for reasons far beyond his own understanding, not only puts up with this but actively enjoys miyano's company anyway AND. mayhaps. lets miyano get away with WAY too much. miyano who becomes just so comfortable because hirano lets him get away with so much, and it's not like this MEANS anything. he just thinks hirano would be a good uke. he's just projecting otaku fantasies onto him. sure it feels more weird with his other friends, he doesn't want to do that, so why is it fine with hirano?? miyano getting bolder and actively nudging hirano into doing things. kabedons hirano and asks "would this make your heart race if a puppy dog seme did it??" and hirano is like "i mean you surprised me, but that's not the same thing" miyano pulling his own version of the "can we try doing a lap pillow?" and it's Scientific curiosity okay, it's otaku curiosity. that's all. and the crazy thing is that almost without noticing hirano is being inoculated against being touched until he's totally comfortable with it (at least with miyano) because Both of them are going "well it's not like this MEANS anything"

It happened in a train, near noon in the middle of July in the south of France. Which for those familiar should tell you something about how hot it was. For those unfamiliar it's pretty damn hot particularly for people like yours truly who do not take heat well.

The train was packed, which did not help the heat. I had eaten but a handful of nuts in the morning, which was a bad decision. I didn't have a seat, which isn't necessarily an issue. Usually.

But the heat and the lack of food (mostly the heat) made a bad combination. The lightheadedness fell on me like an anvil. Sudden. Heavy. I felt nauseous which was truly the worst part because is there a worse place to puke than in a packed train? I didn't think so and I still don't.

People noticed. I don't know if it was the swaying or maybe I had gone visibly pale but three different people got up to give me their seat. Or four. I don't know, but it was a lot. The rules of politeness and manners don't apply when you're afraid you're gonna puke so I very gratefully took a seat.

A woman gave me a chocolate biscuit, she said she kept this sort of thing in her bag always because her son has diabetes. Two people offered me water but I had my own which I did drink. Two other people offered me more food. A man offered me vitamins. I hesitated and he gave me the package so I could check for myself it wasn't, like, drugs. I am mildly ashamed to say that I did not hesitate for reasons of a stranger giving me medicine but because I thought the orange-flavored vitamins might not mix super well with the chocolate biscuit I was eating. For my defense, sensory issues can be bad and I already wasn't feeling well. But I did learn my lesson about trusting strangers with medicine. This one was trustworthy, but still. Man who gave me vitamins, kudos to you for making sure I knew it wasn't drugs.

People asked me if I knew what was wrong. Two older people gently chastised me for not eating enough in this weather. Several asked where I as getting off and were visibly relieved when I said my stop was soon. They kept subtly checking on me trough the train ride and several people waved goodbye when I got off.

All those strangers coming together without a second's hesitation when I felt unwell. When you think about it, that's, like, a low bar. Obviously if someone visibly wasn't feeling well I would try to help. But the way they all moved together and didn't wait for someone else to offer a seat or food or water. The way they kept checking on me. That's what I want to be like.
