First Day Back to the Gym and Body Composition Measurements
Good morning everyone!
This morning started off really well. :) A Holistic Dietitian came to my home and so that I could get my baseline body composition measurement taken. It was a really cool process and I'm so glad I did it!
This is what it showed me:Â
fat %,
fat weight,
lean mass %,
lean mass weight (includes muscle, bone and water),
dry lean mass weight (includes only muscle and bone),
water % (hydration level)
waist circumference
hip circumference
waist/hip ratio
I will be doing it again in a couple of months and will be posting my baseline as well as my progress.
Also, today is my first day back at the gym!! I can't wait! I will be starting off pretty lightly since I am not allowed to lift heavy weights when I first start off, post-surgery. Plus, my muscles are nowhere near the strength they were at before surgery and I really don't want to injure myself or strain anything. I will be taking it easy for the first week, gradually increasing intensity for a month. The plan is to be basically be back at my initial strength at the end of a month. Hopefully all goes well!! :)

Good morning everyone and Happy New Year 2014!!
As some of you may know, I can finally start going back to the gym, post surgery, on Friday!! I can't wait! I'm getting sooo antsy!Â
As a follow up to my last post, I can tell you that I'm feeling much better and all pain from the surgery is GONE! Yay! I was one of the unfortunate patients (approximately 1% of patients getting this procedure done) who had nerve affectation. Let me tell you something, It hurt...soo much. I was so worried as to how long it would take for the pain to subside, but fortunately enough, within 4-5 weeks post-op, it was gone. :)
So, starting today, I will try my very best to post here daily. I will be posting recipes, exercises, videos, motivational quotes, nutritional tips and info as well as just updating you on what I am going through in my fitness journey. :) As some of you may know, I will be stepping on stage for my very first figure modeling (bikini) competition this year and I am feeling sooo ready to push myself above and beyond to reach that goal! :) I can't wait!
This past year has been a rough one filled with obstacles. In December 2012, when I was training to compete in April 2013 and was literally in the BEST shape of my life...I hurt my back/pelvis. This caused me to be off work and training for quite a while...a couple of months. This was so hard on me, not only physically, but mentally. I ended up being pretty depressed about it and just stopped doing anything. It was not a good scene. I completely sabotaged all of my hard work. After I recovered, I had to start working out very slowly at a beginners level.
There was also the selling of our house, packing up, moving to another city, etc. which caused me some stress and also affected my training and nutrition quite a bit.
As for the latest obstacle...my surgery! This had a huge impact on my training and nutrition as well.
Sooo...long story short...I am a long way from my physical peak that I was at a little over a year ago, but I am SO pumped and ready to KILL it!! :D:D I WILL get back to where I was and surpass it. :)
First order of business: I am getting my Body Measurement Composition done on Friday morning of this week. I will be sharing these numbers with you as well as future follow-up measurement. :) Then, I'm hitting the gym!! :D Yay!

Hey everyone!!
So, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm still around and definitely going to post again soon! :) The reason why I haven't been posting much in the past couple of weeks, is that I am recovering from a surgery I had on Nov 22nd. Everything went really well during surgery and I had an amazing group of doctors and nurses take care of me during and in recovery. :)
As for recovery at home...well...it's been a lot harder than expected, but I'm hanging in there! :D Their original thought was that after 1 week I would be pretty much pain-free, but just not able to get back to work (because of the nature of my job) or get back in the gym...but...of course, I HAD to be one of those exceptions that was still in do much pain after 10 days that I could hardly sleep, couldn't get into a car (let alone drive!! I haven't even attempted that yet...) without crying from every little bump in the road (literal bumps...hehe) and had been basically confined to my house for the past week and a half. Sheesh!!
Now, like I said, I'm hanging in there and it will all be worth it in the end. I'm just not very patient... :P
So, that's why I haven't posted in the past couple of weeks, but I am now doing better and will start posting new recipes and nutritional tips/information soon!

Just finished my centerpieces four our Christmas party this friday. :) super easy, yet pretty! ;)
