Of course Gwyneth Paltrow has sex advice, and of course it’s as dumb as a PhD thesis on quantum mechanics written by Kanye West and Donald Trump. Mysterious “libido-enhancing” gadgetry? Check.$15,000 golden dildos? Check. $3,000 vaginal radio frequency treatments? Orgasmic meditation? Naturopath-endorsed vegan lubes? Check, check, goddamned check. I have no idea whether Paltrow is the world’s best or worst person in bed. However, she’s definitely the most unnecessarily prepared, and it seems like her vagina has its own driver to bring it to your bedroom.

Of course, there are people who consider this overpriced new age bullshit interesting and solid advice, which kind of makes you want to side with the Joker and watch the world burn. But even they should flee when Gwyneth gets more hands-on with her advice. Despite her supposedly progressive views, she’s a somewhat infamous proponent of the “argument blowjob”: When a man and a woman have a fight looming, the woman should just drop her stance on the subject and then proceed to drop on her knees. According to Gwyneth, this is a “good thing, energetically.” Other, less energetically-inclined people, such as myself, might point out that she’s doing a swell job of describing every single implied off-screen event in The Stepford Wives.

July 4th, 12:00 A.M.:

There has been a video circulating over the last few days. This video contains a mother of an autistic boy showing flashcards about how hard his autism is on HER and how VACCINES caused his autism. The whole time she’s sitting very sadly staring at the camera as if he’s been diagnosed with terminal cancer. And what is this DAMAGED child doing the entire time his mother is mourning the loss of her poor autistic child? He’s playing with dirt, smiling, and stimming his beautiful little heart out. I really doubt this child is broke, lost, or damaged; his mother is just blind.

You may have heard similar things from other writers, but the difference here is that I have been that child, but I had family that loved and accepted my differences. I’m 22 years old and wasn’t diagnosed with autism until I was 20, because my family never thought anything of it. I was healthy, I was happy, and I was even pretty smart. But I was clumsy, I was awkward, I got bullied a lot, I had speech and memory issues, and I was easily overwhelmed. You know what I wasn’t? I wasn’t lost. I wasn’t some little damaged bird that needed saved from the big bad vaccines. I wasn’t a child who inspired my family to mourn.

Now let’s move away from me for a moment, imagine if you please, that you are this little boy and that 10 years down the road you find this video of your mother acting like you’ve died. Even if you struggle, you would be able to see one thing; the woman who is supposed to love you is ignoring you. She’s not playing in the dirt, she’s not smiling at your joy, and she’s not telling you she loves you. She’s looking away from you. You may not understand her words or her facial expressions, but you will understand that in that moment she wasn’t WITH you.

I can’t think of anymore to add to this or how to express my heartbreak any better. But I hope that this darling boy knows that he is loved, even if it’s by a thousand strangers. Remember in the end that this shouldn’t be about awareness, it should be about acceptance and finding a way to support your child.
