Friendship Regain With Victor/Yuuri
the final six - jump [big version]
young vitya commissioned by the sweet @sea-goddess-amphitrite!! ♥ Thank you!!
Okay, so I’m sure I’m late to the party, but I haven’t seen any posts about it so…
A little bit ago I was scrolling through my dash and someone had posted a video from the end of episode 10 of Yuri on Ice (aka, the banquet) and I noticed something that has had me laughing for like ten minutes.
So we all know that we get to see pictures from the banquet on three different phones.
The first two phones are obviously Victor and Chris, but I could never figure out who the third phones was supposed to belong to. And then all of a sudden watching the video it clicked.
IT’S FRIGGIN YURIO’S PHONE!
A picture of pirozhki, plus the animal print, dunno how I didn’t realize sooner. That alone was enough to crack me up, but then I watched the video again and realized something else.
Throughout the video we see different photo albums from each phone. (Adding a cut cause this got kinda long and some of my non YOI friends would smack me if I didn’t XD)

Once they get to the hotel they can’t stop kissing. Victor starts it, in the elevator, with what Yuuri thinks is just going to be a peck on the cheek–and it is, but it’s followed by another on the other cheek, and then his nose, his chin, his forehead, soft kisses all across his face, like Victor can’t resist once he’s started. Yuuri can’t help but giggle, some mixture of nerves and happiness and who knows what other emotions bubbling up inside him all giddy and sharp.
Victor stops when the elevator doors open at their floor, but their hands are still clasped together tightly. Yuuri isn’t sure if he’s holding Victor’s hand or if Victor’s holding his, or which of them is leading the other down the hall to Yuuri’s room. He knows that he’s the one who kisses Victor as soon as they have the door closed again behind them, because it’s the first time he’s done it; the other times were all Victor beginning it. Yuuri’s going to remember this forever.
The kiss on the ice was sudden and surprising and a little more enjoyable in a symbolic and meaningful kind of way than it was in a literal sense. The kisses in the elevator were sweet and maybe not innocent, but still restrained. These kisses are different. These are serious and heavy, and Yuuri is totally aware of Victor’s tongue in his mouth and Victor’s hands in new places and the sheer presence of Victor freaking Nikiforov pressed close against him in a full body embrace.
All at once Yuuri feels overwhelmed. He breaks the kiss, pushing Victor away a few inches with a hand on his chest, while he tries to catch his breath.

Hands down my favourite part of Yuri On Stage
Many thanks to @thatshamelessyaoishipper for subbing the entire section.
This line of dialogue (spoken by Yurio) is genuinely so important to our understanding of Viktor’s character. It’s fair to say that a lot of us kind of view his character as lovable, childlike, and whimsical, and that isn’t wrong. But this proves it, he’s only like that around Yuuri, according to somebody who has known him for three years or so at an absolute minimum.
This is the Viktor Nikiforov without Yuuri, the one the majority of people know. This is the Viktor Nikiforov who sits alone in parks in the snow, with only his dog for comfort, as he contemplates how his life even turned up like that.
I know this is a particularly bad moment, to be fair, but just look how miserable he looks.
Even here, he just looks so bored and serious.
This is Viktor without Yuuri for what? Three days?
The actual effect Yuuri had on Viktor’s life is astounding. With Yuuri, Viktor learnt to let everything go and just be him, rather than his more restrained and serious self, morphing into the usual personality we see and love for the duration of the anime.
All I can picture is the first day Viktor and Yuuri start training again at the rink in St Petersburg, and are absolutely gobsmacked to witness Viktor smiling, laughing, with his arms draped around Yuuri like he’s a buoyancy aid. Quiet, serious Viktor Nikiforov actually looking like he’s enjoying his day. He’s the opposite of the kind of man who would tickle someone publicly, but there he is, chasing Yuuri Katsuki around the rink like a five year old. It’s like some kind of bizarre dream. Even Yakov would have to admit that Yuuri’s presence has transformed him.
And perhaps Yakov even asks him once, unable to help himself, where Viktor suddenly got so much inspiration from, after so many years of misery.
The only answer he gets, as Viktor starts to walk away, is “he gave me his love, Yakov.”
Five Shovel Talks That Never Happened (+2 That Did)
1. When Yuuri is practicing his combination spin at center ice at Cup of China and Phichit says conversationally, “So.” His eyeliner is honestly the stuff of legends. Victor should ask his technique. “You should know that at any given time I’m ready to commit murder for that boy.” Victor hums. “Then,” he says, smiling, “we have that in common.” Phichit gives him a long, low stare. Then, brilliantly, he smiles back. “Oh,” he says. “I like you.” 2. When Yuuri, leaving the banquet at Rostelecom, is driven to the airport in the Team Yakov van, sandwiched between Mila and the window. She happily, between yawns, relates anecdotes about Yakov, about Victor, along with some jokes about Yuri Plisetsky and some unnamed skater crush of his. Yuuri nods and kneads his fingers and waits for the other shoe to drop.
When they let him off at the airport, Mila gives him a fierce hug and says, “Give Vitya our love?” “… that’s it?” says Yuuri. Who has not yet grasped that he’s capable of breaking anyone’s heart, let alone Victor’s, but knows, nonetheless, how these things are supposed to go. Mila’s smile gets a little confused. But she confirms, “That’s it.” 3. When Minako slumps against her chair in the Barcelona hotel bar and sighs, “He’s practically my kid, so I’m biased. But he’s the easiest thing in the world to love, right? Getting him to let you, though.” “I’m sorry,” is what Victor finally says. He doesn’t know how he feels about any of this, but he especially doesn’t know how he feels about being comforted by Minako, when she should probably be comforting Yuuri back up in the room. “Victor. You think I haven’t been where you are?” She smiles grimly. “You’re doing fine.” 4. When Yuuri’s parents take Victor aside that last night in Hasetsu. “That boy.” Toshiya’s smiling as he shakes his head. “He doesn’t trust his heart with many people. You know?” Hiroko’s holding one of Victor’s hands in both of hers before he can form a reassurance. “We’re so glad it was you,” she says. (There was a lot of crying that night, is all I’m saying.) 5. When Yuuri learned that trying to match Yakov Feltsman shot for shot is a terrible idea, no matter how nervous you are about your one-on-one dinner with him. Or maybe it is a good idea, if it gives you the courage to spend the evening monologuing how much you care about his surrogate skating son. “He’s always got a lecture in the Kiss and Cry,” Yuuri says dreamily at one point. “Just like you.” “Katsuki,” Yakov says, sitting very stiffly in the restaurant foyer as they wait for Victor to come collect his trashed fiancé. Yuuri, resting facedown against his shoulder, doesn’t see his face. “You’ve made him very happy.” “Aww,” Yuuri slurs, smiling into Yakov’s coat. “You too.” “Your landing on the Salchow today was atrocious,” Yakov says. “You too,” Yuuri says. Unfortunately, this is the one part he remembers the next day. +2 When Yurio gives them both the shovel talk within an hour of each other. Yuuri makes a small, distressed noise after they compare notes. “He’s so cute,” he says. “Please go tell him that,” Victor says. (For some reason, Yuuri doesn’t.)

skating husbands, to kick off 2017 (this is a reupload, i disliked the faces before ;0; sooo haha)
I really hope it turns out Yuuri’s Eros routine was the Big Gay Awakening for a whole generation of skaters the way seeing Victor so clearly was for him. I live for the image of ten years down the line when all the current crop of skaters tell Yuuri with wide eyes how big of an influence it was on them and Yuuri is just mildly confused while Victor beams besides him.
