I can admit some of my disappointment in where Deceit's character has ended up stems from preconceived notions I had which were disproven; how can I blame the series for failing me if Deceit and Remus being close was never in the cards to begin with? I wasn't promised that, so I can't, that, I accept.
I think it's hard for me to accept that this is how he is now, and all his slinky cunning is a rare feature, rather than the whole meal, because I feel that altogether, his development was rushed. Maybe to make room for Remus, or Nico, or whatever's on the horizon with Logan and orange. I wish the transition had been more gradual, that we'd had more time settling in with one new side, which was so strange, then, so novel. As it is, I feel like the Deceit we were introduced to, which inspired me to writing at 13, has been, ultimately, glossed over and replaced. Remus seems to be following in his path.
