INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE | Season 3, Episode 5, "New York"
Itâs the way Lestat immediately shows up for Louis but doesnât get the same backâŚ
"uwu why is louis allowed to be mean and apathetic towards lestat when he got shot but lestat who is in so much suffering dropped everything to be by louis' side you guys are so mean" vs. "uwu lestat is so dismissive of louis and only cares about his stupid album while louis is clearly spiraling". for once we have an american show that doesn't spell out every single fucking detail to the audience and suddenly everyone is media illiterate?
that's not what that scene was about. lestat is throwing a fit at louis (has been riding a breakdown for 5 whole episodes by this point). up until the second he sees regina. when he comes out of the diner he is a changed man. he tells louis to stop seeing her with his last shred of self-power and then flees. that scene was meant to show just why louis went so far with regina, how overwhelmed with grief he is, because lestat is hit with the same hammer (he stammers "you have an injury she didn't have, your heart works fine" and even regina calls him out on it immediately "but i look like her" and he has to put on sunglasses to shield how raw he is just from looking at her). it's meant to show how louis is not just hallucinating this, because it hits lestat just the same. "no spark right?" but they're looking at each other like they're standing over claudia's corpse (or ashes) still.
yes. that scene wasn't meant to highlight how apathetic louis is (he admits it himself "i don't have an answer" but that's also deceitful. he is too lost in his grief over claudia, lestat got shot but louis clearly knew he is still alive) or how self-centered lestat is. it is meant to show how irreconcilable their differences are at this point in their life (each taken with their own flavor of immortal personal drama/trauma) and STILL give them a moment of being perfectly in sync in their love for claudia, in their grief over how she passed. and suddenly the irreconcilable differences fall away and what's left is two people, two beings who are mourning and clearly still love each other deeply - a glimpse of a possible way to bridge the abyss that separates them, opening up a future where they might find companionship again.
but it is too raw and they cannot tell each other this, so we are being shown their reactions instead. lestat cannot bear to look at louis after, and he flees. goes back to the studio and writes his first sincere song since the season started. for all the trauma he's been shoving under the carpet, this is the one he chooses to confront, and comes out of it a different person. we'll see what louis does next episode.
you guys are just fandom-heads who cannot read a story or explore a narrative without taking 'sides' or hurling 'blame' as if grief and trauma and our reaction to them are logical and predictable or neatly categorizable.
Stained Glass Eyes destroys me because it proves just how fucking much Lestat loves Claudia⌠and it makes it so much more devastating how he treated and failed her
And he knows it. He loves her more than life, he remembers her heartbeat and her eyes are burned into his. And his guilt is eating him alive
As it should
He loved her enough to remember her heartbeat 75 years later. He loved her enough to pour every ounce of his immortal nonsoul into a lung collapsing ballad. He loved her enough to remember the good amongst all the horrible. He loved her enough to never recover from what he did to her
But he didn't love her enough to love her

SHEILA ATIM as AKASHA INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE | Season 3, Episode 5, "New York"
if you are a parent, or may become one, or you are otherwise likely to arrive in the situation of caring for a child while they eat, promise me this: if a child doesn't like a certain food or food group, you will ask them WHY. and specifically, you will pay attention to either confirming or ruling out "it makes my mouth itch" or "it makes my stomach hurt," both of which are medically important info that children may not provide unprompted. which i know because this PSA has been brought to you by "i spent my entire childhood and much of my early teens eating peas and lentils while wondering why everyone else liked the Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation so much, like were they a bunch of legume masochists or something, before i finally realized that Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation was in fact a sinister demon appearing only to me, and her true demonic name was: Legume Allergy"
thinking about a much younger taylor writing âchose the rose garden over madison squareâ and believing that sheâd have to sacrifice her career in order to have a steady of relationship but in the end, travis turned their back yard into a rose garden to propose and now theyâre getting married in madison square
We have no choice but to stan a queen đŞâ¤ď¸đ
Trying to escape military service like: "Poison Seller, I require your weakest poisons."
it's actually so amazing she helped save the lives of the honorable men who did not wish to fight, while killing the most vile men, that is so fucking based
australian sour patch kids have gluten in them i am truly at my fucking limit im crashing out im waging war against wheat idgaf anymore
oh is that one of those things where ableist companies put in traces of common allergens so they can just avoid the cost of making it safe
WHAT
A trend we predicted in 2016 continues.
US based but itâs similar reasons in other countries. and of course many companies have international locations. idk if thatâs why itâs happening with sour patch kids but this is a thing
I cannot even explain how ANGRY I am at this.
My nephew is very allergic to eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. Last year my sister discovered all hot dogs and hamburger buns now contain sesame. Not "may contain", but listed in the ingredients. This year basically every brand of sliced bread also now contains sesame, making it very difficult to find bread items he can eat.
They're just adding it to their products, so they can just list it as an ingredient and not bother with worrying about cross contamination. And they aren't even bothering with telling anyone. Capitalism is going to kill us all.
"Which brings us back to Kelloggâs. Back in 2016, the company found a way around the added burden and expense of complying with the FSMA: they simply began adding trace amounts of peanut flour to their cracker products. Doing so allowed them to list peanuts as an ingredient of the product, freeing them from having to prevent cross-contact.
At the time, Kelloggâs notified Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) about the impending change and left it to them to warn the allergic community. In this case, Pearsonâs didnât even bother as near as we can tell."
I wonder if thatâs part of the reason behind my seeing an upswing in products adding corn starch or corn flour to things that didnât have those before? <- rhetorical question, because Iâm certain thatâs whatâs going on.

Getting down on my knees and thanking the humans who invented dishwashers and washing machines.
InsNe that dishwashers are more efficient and easier than just washing them manually but they also use less water. Itâs a win win situation
They ALSO sterilize dishes, due to operating at a far higher temperature than human hands could ever tolerate. It's a win every way.
This doesnât include the best bit of the whole thing - she found the Twitter thread!
This is like one of those romance novels where people bond over accidentally writing each other emails but better.
Like Pride and Prejudice but instead of the love interest getting dissed for his toxicity and then reforming, itâs just two people bonding over dissing a dead toxic asshole.
10/10 would recommend
Time to feed unprofessional managers what theyâve been dishing out for far too long.
Couple things here, for when you do this to people:Â
1. if you get the âanswer my callâ text, NEVER ANSWER THE CALL.Â
They are calling you because they want to have the conversation verbally, and be able to lie later about what they said or didnât say. Force them to continue via text or email- force them to continue the conversation in writing or not at all.Â
2. âLack of 2 weeks notice is unprofessional!â or the other version, âNot providing notice is illegal!â
No it isnât. Neither is true.Â
And in the US, all states except Montana are âat willâ employment (though you may hear an employer refer to it as âright to workâ to make it sound better, itâs the same thing). Sure, at-will employment means they can fire you without cause, BUT! It also means that you are not legally required to give a reason for quitting, or to give notice of any kind.Â
Is it polite to give notice when you can? Sure. Do bosses expect it? Absolutely. But that does not make you legally required to provide it.Â
3. The only thing I would change in the workerâs interaction here was their response when initially asked to come in.Â
Employee: âHey Mark. Sorry Iâm unable to cover the shift tonight because Iâm studying for my exam tomorrow.âÂ
Donât give a reason for your lack of availability. It may be tempting to. You may feel rude if you donât.Â
DONâT DO IT.
You do not owe your boss any information about what you do off the clock, and any reason you give will only ever be used against you.Â
Boss: âHey I need you to cover Jasperâs shift tonight.â
Employee: âSorry, Iâm not available.â
And leave it at that.Â
Do not elaborate.Â
Do not offer additional information.Â
When you boss asks you to elaborate, because they will, be polite but firm. âWith respect, thatâs personal. Iâm sorry, but Iâm unavailable to cover this shift/work late/come in early/etc.â
Be a broken record- youâre unavailable. Thatâs the only information they need to know, and itâs the only information they have a LEGAL RIGHT to know.Â
Please stop giving your bosses information they donât need to know and donât get to have, because theyâre only going to try and use it to fuck you over later.Â
My job is HR. The above is completely accurate.
We need to lay more blame for "Kids don't know how computers work" at the feet of the people responsible: Google.
Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.
Tech literacy didn't mysteriously vanish, it was fucking murdered for profit.
Linux is a very good and powerful alternative.
reminder: you cannot Personal Choises your way out of an Intentional Structural Problem
Fun fact! School Chromebooks block Linux. It's not an easy alternative. You are missing the point
i think i've posted this before, but ilya truly does deserve an award for his patience after getting woken up at fuck o'clock at the cottage for a five year plan strategy session when he was in the middle of a rem cycle.
like the way he asked "what is nur-ate-iv?" makes me think man TRULY was not catching all of the words getting tossed at him so fast the second his eyes were even a LITTLE open. like he wasn't asking "what story did you come up with?" he's asking "what word are you even saying to me right now?" man got like 0.2 seconds to be like "oh i'm awake now?" before he was getting PELTED with english because shane had a forty step plan that couldn't wait like. three more hours.
i would have hit him with a pillow and said let's circle back, so kudos to ilya.

okay so, warning! vampire lestat spoilers but !
daniel like "inherited"? the sudden feeling of no one else being there but armand, and armand claims he's not the one doing it, but he gets that too.
Does that mean that louis "inherited" lestat's condition of seeing phantoms of "dead" people?
The editing is insaneâit feels like itâs getting more and more intense. Leaving aside that very NIN-esque video in the background... the way they cut a eye surgery between Lestat Gabriella stuffâthere is just so much going on in every single millisecond, and theyâre doing everything they can to distract us. Absolutely brilliant work.
