it is impossible to watch a movie. every night i think i want to watch a movie. no movie gets watched. because it's not possible
and yet they keep making movies with the hopes that one day humanity will discover a way to watch them. it's so inspiring
MAZE RUNNER SPOILERS!!
Newt being the one to get infected and killed was heartbreaking but at the same time, it was absolutely necessary for the plot.
Newt was a relatively stable character. He was calm and collected, and more often than not, the voice of reason. He was the quite literally the glue of the group (not WICKED's meaning). It had to be him who got infected, so readers could visualise what the Flare does to people. You could be the most level-headed person to exist, but the disease is so deadly that it would turn you into an unrecognisable monster. For example, if Dashner had chosen to write Minho as the one who got infected, the drastic effect the disease has on personality wouldn't have come through, since he's already hot-headed.
Up until Newt gets infected, we see the Cranks as vile, zombie-like monsters. Newt turning into one of them humanises them. It allows us to view them as people who had loving families and a life before the Flare, because we built an attachment to Newt over the trilogy, only for it to be ripped away. This allows us to visualise and empathise with the "Cranks".
Newt's infection and eventual demise are a turning point for Thomas. It's the final push his character needs to take down WICKED. Where Chuck's death was symbolic of the termination of innocence, Newt's is symbolic of the majority of humanity.
MAZE RUNNER SPOILERS!! (Sorta)
I feel like anyone who hates Teresa has severely missed the essence of the biggest sub-themes of the book.
ANYONE is susceptible to propaganda (yes, even you).
The Maze Runner series is told from Thomas' perspective, so naturally, the reader is inclined to dislike Teresa.
But on a deeper level, they were kids upon whose shoulders lay the fate of the world. It was an impossible situation with limited information.
She was (for the most part) raised in this government facility, where it was drilled into her head that she and Thomas were doing the right thing for "the greater good".
No one is born with distrust; it's something that is learned over time. Who could Teresa have trusted if not for the people who "raised" her?
It's also so easy to forget that she was a teenager, a phase where everything is tumultuous. It's a phase where you're discovering who you are (Now add a worldwide catastrophe to that). It's an incredibly isolating experience, and one in which you feel like the world is against you, and in Teresa's case, the world was literally against her.
The whole moral aspect of the series is set in grayscale. It's basically the Trolley Problem on a larger scale.
Teresa's actions were incredibly human, and to hate her for them rather than understand them goes against what it means to be so.
RIP Peter, you would've loved performative males. (I was rewatching The Great and got to the part where Peter starts reading Galileo to appear smarter and get Catherine to fall in love with him.)

Obliviousness just runs in this family, huh?
Kevin Can F Himself
I noticed in Season 2 that the colour scheme and overall cinematography for the "comedy" scenes became far less saturated, but also less '90s/2000s grainy sitcom' (more akin to that of Young Sheldon). I think it's to represent how Kevin's world is slowly unravelling, first with Allison actually standing up to him and then with Neil finally realising what a bad friend he actually is. So it's a way of blending the two worlds together as opposed to the overly saturated, campy colour palette they used for Kevin's scenes in season 1.
I also noticed how Neil or Kevin's dad never appear in Allison's scenes prior to season 2. They're only seen as background characters, and its only after Neil gets hit over the head with the bottle that he becomes a more complex character who's more than being goofy. It's like Neil is slowly becoming disillusioned by Kevin. This is seen especially in episode 2 where Kevin is treating him as an assistant and Neil goes from the living room to the kitchen.
The last episode of The O.C. was so comically bad I sat there staring at my blank screen, wondering if it was a fever dream.

Literally any other colour wouldâve been a better choice guys.
Iâd like to point out that the colour red has more positive than negative meanings.
im sorry but this reply absolutely killed me
red can mean whatever the heck you want it to mean, that is never going to change that this straight up looks like they DRAGGED A BLOODY BODY ACROSS THE FUCKING FLOOR đ
Hi fun fact, colors do have meaning and there is a legit thing called color theory. Red does has more positive connotations than negative like the @mintymaiden said. Red is associated with more love, lust, passion than blood and death just like the chart shows you but If you want, hereâs a link for you to check it out yourself. Also, check out âThe Designerâs Dictionary of Colorâ by Sean Adams. Have fun learning something

What isColor Theory? Color theory is a term used to describe the collection of rules and guidelines regarding the use of color in art and de
I think yâall are missing the point here.
You can theorize to Nebraska and back but that doesnât change my immediate reaction which is that someone is literally dragging a corpse around
I like that the presumption here is that âNo One On Tumblr Has Heard of Color Theory, Let Me Explain in Depthâ rather than simply acknowledging that the VISUAL EFFECTS of this particular color choice, applied in the manner it was, can still amount to âthis is a hospital and that looks like bloodâ
like, color theory doesnât exist in a vacuum. If your design of choice for Blood Red Paint is asymmetric splatters and sploches against the wall, or in this case, a snail trail on the hallwayâs floor, an infographic wonât override the viewersâ instinct.
this post is the perfect summation of tumblrâs reading comprehension and critical thought abilities
Reblogging because thereâs a lot of new people on here and you need some context for the jokes.

Harry Potter vs. Percy Jackson
The age-old debate between fandoms is absolutely insane and should not exist, in my opinion. If you think Percy wouldn't absolutely body Harry, you're absolutely delusional and should perhaps develop a better literary understanding.
Percy is the son of a literal God who is one of the most powerful beings in Greek mythology. He is literally part God. Harry is nothing more than a wizard who probably wouldn't have made it past the first book without Hermione.
Percy went up against THE GOD OF WAR at only 12 and won. Not to mention, he was just beginning to tap into his powers at this point.
Even if we take their powers completely out of the equation, Percy would still trounce Harry. Sure, Harry was athletic and probably fast (especially after having to outrun Duddley for so many years). Percy trained at a camp that focused on improving his battle skills.
It's cannon that Percy "I wanted to see how much misery Misery could take" Jackson could control the water content in someone's body and ideally make it work against them.
Hypothetically, if the fight were to take place away from any body of water to even the playing field, Percy could still make hurricanes and earthquakes, which are enough to take out armies, much less one wizard.
"But Harry would just use *insert spell*." Harry's power is pretty much limited to a stick, that's notoriously not very durable. All it takes is one stream of water or sheer brute force from Percy to disarm him.
It's also canon that Percy hasn't unlocked his potential and that his power can only grow with him.
Literally half of Seth Cohen's problems could be solved with ten minutes of communication instead of his shovel of manipulative lies that dig him a bigger hole each time.
God bless shows about friend groups named after the town they live in. They'll always have a special place in my heart.
Why was everyone on that show constantly going through teenage pregnancies?

The O.C.- A Rant
Marissa Cooper gets on my fucking nerves!! I completely get that she was dealt a bad hand with her family (her father steals millions and winds up broke twice, her mother is a gold digger and overall intense woman, and her sister grows up to be equally as messy), and I sympathise with her. But she's constantly messing up her relationships with people who care about her (mainly Ryan), and she seems to be a serial cheater (the way they come is the way they go). Not only that, she keeps putting herself in harmful situations and refuses to do anything to help herself. Even when Ryan constantly warns her about Oliver and explicitly expresses his disdain for her growing relationship with Johnny, she continually goes against him.

Redheaded Weirdos
I truly believe Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid' and Arthur Weasley would get on like a house on fire.
They're both redheads and have a fascination with human/muggle things. I could see them spending hours swapping items from their collection, like little kids swapping candy on Halloween. Before exchanging completely false and exaggerated facts about each item.
If you think about it, the Percy Jackson universe is basically Rick Riordan's Fanon of Greek Mythology.
