happy pride month
Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism aren’t marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.
Praying for a safe journey back to the spirit world, Uncle ❤️🩹🦅
Today is the anniversary of the death of Jonathan Joss (King of the Hill, Parks and Rec). Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who died protecting his transgender husband, on the first day of Pride month. Today we remember him and how he protected his family.

As the ongoing Zionist aggressions against Lebanon continue to kill and displace the Lebanese people—with over 200 murdered in a single day of bombing over the capital of Beirut—please consider supporting two friends who have been driven from their homes amidst the violence:
"Hi, I’m Chris, and I’m from Kawzah
During the war, the sounds of explosions and drones and fighter jets were so loud my dad could feel their vibrations. The strikes kept getting closer and closer until we lost our house there and had to move in with relatives in Hadath. We found and rented a place there and now we lost our house there. My family is full of life even though we’ve been through everything: my mom is crippled, and my dad is deaf, and I have 3 sisters. I’ve been struggling to support them all through this, and in Beirut its almost impossible to rent a place without paying huge deposits and 3-6 months to be able to rent.
Making this fundraiser is harder to me than when we had to move, so please help me find a place where we can stay."
I'm Mira, I live in Canada and I'm raising money for two friends. One of … Mira Hajjar needs your support for Help displaced Lebanese family

ik staff seems to have reverted the latest "banning a bunch of transfem users bc they feel like it" thankfully but like. what the hell is up with the account termination email that was sent out that essentially said "we can delete your blog for no reason at all. lol." thats fucked up
"we can delete your account for no reason if we feel like it" do they want another lawsuit about their moderation biases or something ?
After attacking Iran, Israel has closed all crossings into Gaza, shutting off humanitarian aid and escalating the dire humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians.
Gaza is under siege, and the price of staples has climbed tremendously. Community kitchens have been forced to close due to lack of supplies, and have been unable to afford to replenish their stocks.
Gaza Soup Kitchen is a grassroots organization that uses money from global donors to feed thousands of people every day. Their most recent campaign was to provide food parcels for Ramadan, and they are going to struggle to keep people fed in the midst of this new, horrifying war.
If you are able to, consider donating money to Gaza Soup Kitchen through their GoFundMe or GiveButter accounts to help stave off hunger in the midst of this chaos.
the way ozempic has finally made the fact that eating healthy and exercising doesn't necessarily make you thin well known and society's reaction to this is not "oh i guess being thin or fat doesn't actually show if you're healthy" but "oh i guess everyone should be on this drug"
For years I've seen people say "I'm not against fat people, I just want to make sure they're healthy and safe!" And the moment ozempic comes around and doesn't apply within that justification no one says it anymore because they never cared about fat people to begin with, they just didn't like seeing them.
Can yall stop downplaying getting called a slur as "unpleasant" or "troublesome"
That shit is TRAUMATIZING point blank
Just cuz yall didn't want to check on the Black individuals getting hit with slurs, don't mean this doesn't affect them mentally and emotionally
"They handled this with so much grace and understanding," and if I told you they probably are filled with anger and frustration, would that frighten you?
I don't think yall understand how much we hold back for the sake of keeping the peace (which adds to the the trauma btw)
I can't tell you how these guys' personally feel. But why are yall so eager to push this "passive and happy-go-lucky magical negro" onto us?

there;s just a massive world of difference between disabled people being asked to apologize for their symptoms and existence when its making people mildly uncomfortable at worst, and white disabled people still refusing to acknowledge and understand their white privilege and the power different inherent in hurtling racial slurs at people who are expected to not even remotely react... like this is not hard both things can be true
white disabled people, disabled men, etc etc, are constantly doing shit like this and are given the grace and understanding that disabled people of color (esp Black!!!) are not! and they are given free pass to inflict horrible amounts of racism onto people, because of disability, and im not saying that in cases people literally cant control themselves! but i also dont think somebody with a movement disorder accidentally punching somebody in the face doesnt need to say, hey, sorry! that was fucked up, and i understand if that was scary or upsetting!
there is a line to walk and i cant be too angry at disabled people for holding very hard onto not apologizing for their existence when theyve been made to feel so utterly unwelcome and worthless and unworthy of existing in public because of it - but can we not also extend that understanding to black folks who experience the same kinds of hostility and violence?
