I maintain that the best summation of my feminist beliefs are that men and women are not fundamentally different. There are a few quantifiable differences if you average out every woman and every man, but they are not qualitative. And most of them are socially constructed, and would be fixed if we started treating men and women the same. Neither is inherently smarter, neither is inherently kinder, neither is inherently more stoic or stronger or angrier or softer. Everyone is obsessed with the differences between women and men, with finding them and creating them and distancing themselves from the "other half". It's fucked up

When I was a kid watching tv was idiot coded and nerds read books, but now scrolling shortform videos is considered braindead behavior and watching tv means you're some kinda intellectual. You might think this shifting assessment of media's consumers might make readers into absolute super geniuses, but no. Only perverts read now.

been thinking this for a while but with the confirmation of the history of sacrificing people to the entity for the sake of the island, i just have to put this out there. that the point of widow's bay is not for them to break the curse, but to withstand it. like ruth was saying this episode, life happens but you have to pull love out of the burning building. the actual curse is not that people are killed through all sorts of hauntings, but that they turn on each other and choose people to sacrifice. if they withstand the horrors together as best they can, that will break the curse. starve the evil.
