A group of Wikipedia editors have formedΒ WikiProject AI Cleanup, βa collaboration to combat the increasing problem of unsourced, poorly-written AI-generated content on Wikipedia.β The groupβs goal is to protect one of the worldβs largest repositories of information from the same kind of misleading AI-generated information that has plaguedΒ Google search results,Β books sold on Amazon, andΒ academic journals. βA few of us had noticed the prevalence of unnatural writing that showed clear signs of being AI-generated, and we managed to replicate similar βstylesβ using ChatGPT,β Ilyas Lebleu, a founding member of WikiProject AI Cleanup, told me in an email. βDiscovering some common AI catchphrases allowed us to quickly spot some of the most egregious examples of generated articles, which we quickly wanted to formalize into an organized project to compile our findings and techniques.β

This is a great post to promote that you can donate to Wikipedia at any time, with almost any amount of money! You can even set up a reoccurring donation, like I did.
A while ago I had the idea to write descriptions of Holmeses (detectives) and Watsons (biographers) from across various adaptations, as though you're adopting them from an animal shelter.
Individual descriptions under the cut. Enjoy!

I thought I might share one of my new tattoos. A couple years ago, a dear friend and I coined the term βfish bag momentβ
A fish bag moment might be sitting all alone in an empty new apartment after coming out and upending your life, or starting a new job in a brand new line of work because itβs closer to your dreams
Itβs what happens when you take a leap of faith or make a hard decision for yourself, when the future is so hard to visualize and everything feels scary. Youβre just a fish in a bag and you canβt see where youβre going
But youβre on your way to a bigger aquarium
Ugh a coworker I adore is leaving for a new job opportunity. She was talking about how sheβs happy and excited, but also sad and scared and nervous. I was like βomg youβre having a fishbag moment! Those feelings are what this tattoo represents!β
She said βI donβt like this feeling why would you get that tattooed on youβ
And I said βbecause it means youβre on your way to a bigger aquarium πβ
She had to walk away bc she started crying lol, and then shouted βTHAT WAS CUTEβ at me from down the hall

The New Jersey Democrat has been criticizing the Trump administration's policies on immigration, education, the economy and more since 7 p.m
Today's action item:
Call Cory Booker's office and say thank you. If you're not one of his direct constituents, say so and indicate you're calling to show he has national support. Aides and pages are allowed to speak with him and other Senators may receive messages they can pass on via questions, meaning he will find out at some point in proceedings.
Also, you can watch direct from his website:
The Official U.S. Senate website of Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey
The NPR article is so so good, just FYI.
If Booker continues to speak a few minutes past the 24-hour mark, his speech will surpass the previous longest-spoken filibuster, set in 1957 by noted segregationist Strom Thurmond, who took the podium at the time to oppose the Civil Rights Act.
Booker is Black.
He beat the record by the way! So suck it Thurmond and Cruz!
The speech has covered a wide range of topics from health care and Social Security to immigration, the economy, public education, free speech and foreign policy. And it included portions of letters that Booker said he had received from affected constituents, as well as public comments from world leaders, in recent weeks.
And he's not doing bs tactics either.
Booker has not yet pulled out the phone book or children's literature to read from, as some of his predecessors have done on the Senate floor. He has stayed focused on the topic of Trump's agenda and how he says it is hurting everyday Americans β weaving together domestic and foreign policy concerns.
Unlike other politicians like Ted Cruz in 2013
Later that year, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, took to reading Dr. Seussβs "Green Eggs and Ham," while holding the floor to oppose former president Obamaβs health care law.
At 25 hours and one minute, with basically no voice left, Cory Booker has ceded the floor.
The longest speech in the history of Congress is now one in defense of democracy, checks and balances, and protection for lower-class Americans.
We finally found one, guys, it's a Democrat with a fucking BACKBONE.
I was so thrilled he made it past Thurmond's record. I watched him for awhile very late last night and listened on CSPAN most of the day today while I was working. I went out tonight, but kept checking in on him. I hope he has the best night of sleep of his life tonight.
SAME. When he beat the record I heard someone else at my job go "woo!" and I was like ah, I see I'm not the only one listening.
When I was a kid I had a book of like, "fun physics experiments for kids". And one of them was an "experiment" where you hold an object by a string and just by focusing on the direction you wanted it to swing, it would start to move in that direction even without your input. The book of course explained that this was the ideomotor effect, a phenomenon where your thoughts can create minute, unconscious movements in your body.
Then a couple years later I got a fortune-telling kit that included a pendulum. You hold the pendulum over a piece of paper that says "yes" and "no" and ask a question, and whichever way the pendulum moves is the answer.
At which point I was like "hey WAIT a minute", and in hindsight I think that experience explains most things about who I am as a person
Hey. Look at me. Please leave yourself a note somewhere you'll see it later that says "it is going to take years if not decades to get the United States government to the level of functionality it had in November of 2024." If we elect a democrat in 2028, we are not going to be up and running by 2032.
Please make sure you have a reminder in your phone reminding you to not look at 2028/32/36 Democratic candidates and say "why are they not promising/delivering Cool Shit?" because you are going to understand that to get Cool Shit we must have competent people running a decently funded government, and we are not going to have that.
We are not getting UBI. We are not getting single payer healthcare. We are not getting free college or free preschool. We are not redistributing wealth on a large scale. We are not getting free internet. We are not getting ranked choice voting.
If we are lucky, we are going to get an IRS that can collect taxes, qualified schoolteachers, research grants, Social Security, and a government that thinks maybe it should be a priority for people around the worlds to not have AIDS, malaria or TB.

I feel like there's a certain type of "ex-evangelical" progressive who obviously supports mandatory progressive causes like abortion access and LGBT rights, but then in practice supports them "so strongly" that they can't compromise on anything. And if that means that they can't vote for candidates who support those issues because they aren't "good enough" and those issues get set back, well... That's a trade-off they're willing to make!
If there's one pro-choice candidate and one anti-choice candidate and you campaign against the pro-choice candidate because you don't think their support is strong enough, knowing that the alternative is the anti-choice candidate... I feel like you're not that pro-choice?
Or if you have one candidate who wants to maintain LGBT rights and one who wants to roll them back, and you oppose the pro-LGBT candidate because they don't want to... add 3 new sex markers to government IDs, but the other candidate wants to make it impossible to change the sex marker on your government ID at all... I don't think you're actually being very supportive of LGBT rights?
People are addicted to trying to find a way out of the trolley problem. Sometimes you do indeed have to decide whether or not to pull the lever and yes, sometimes somebody is going to die because of your choice. Voting is harm reduction
Look at this tool. What a pathetic edgelord.
They are called earned benefits. Cutting $500 billion from your money when you need it is asinine.
Would you accept cuts to your bank account? It's the same logic: it's your money.
At this stage, Musk could destroy all social security payments and end Medicare, and these mindless, unserious Republicans would let Musk steal all their money.
just a suggestion but if you're writing about "the ancient world" please don't include societies that existed from like 1300 to 1521
AZTECS AND INCAS WERE NOT ANCIENT I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL
The Americas have genuinely ancient histories also!!!! Tell me why you talk about Rome and Greece and Sumer and the Qin Dynasty and Middle Kingdom Egypt but you've never heard of the Moche or ChavΓn, the Olmec or the Classical Maya city-states, or even Poverty Point or the Hopewell Interaction Network, or maybe the ancient Tsimshian city of Temlaxam????
okay this is gaining notes so I just want to clarifying:
I'm not saying that the Aztec and Inca societies are not fascinating and super important. They are!!!! Please learn about them!!!! And I'm DEFINITELY not saying this to say they are inferior to Eurasian societies--I want people to learn about the societies BEFORE the Aztecs and Incas.
However, when they are lumped in with the category of "ancient" alongside Rome/Greece/Mesopotamia/Egypt etc societies from before AD 500, it has the effect of flattening Indigenous American history. This is why people are constantly losing their mind over the fact that "Oxford is older than the Aztec Empire" like okay sure. But Teotihuacan is older than Oxford, it's not like there were no societies in the Americas before the year 1300.
Basically no one seems to have a sense of the true length of Indigenous American presence and history in our own continents. That's why this bothers me.
If you don't refer to The Tudors in England as "The ancient Tudors" or The Renaissance as "The Ancient Renaissance" then it's also inaccurate to say "The Ancient Aztecs/Inca". It's really just so common for people to think that Native American history begins and ends with being colonized (thus, why they see a few decades preceding 1492 as being "ancient" for us)
THANK YOU exactlyyyyyyy this
Can anybody give these old-ass Democrats protest lessons? They're acting like they're still living in pre-2015 politics when the GOP gave a shit and wasn't deranged.
A member gets up and starts shouting: All get up and shout with him.
Don't walk out: MAKE them carry you all out, not shutting up the entire time. I'm serious, go limp, be dead weight.
Putin's Puppet says a provable lie: Everyone chant "LIE" in unison for a solid minute instead of holding pitiful little signs in front of a man who can't read above a 3rd grade level.
Have someone who knows ASL sitting with you, interpreting everything in full view.
If you're gonna hold signs, make them BIG like you're actually trying to do something. Have them in multiple languages.
Make other signs that say clever or cutting things that will make him rage for days. "DOESN'T OLD TRUMP LOOK TIRED?" or "PUPPET PRESIDENT" or "EVERYONE IS FACT-CHECKING THIS SPEECH TRUMP DIDN'T WRITE" or "THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES" or his current tanking approval rating next to a laughing emoji.
Make a stink every day in congress, throw as many bills as you can on the floor even if they go nowhere, look like you're trying.
Have someone, idk maybe someone you actually want to boost for President in 3 gd years, be your voice of opposition in the media, loudly complaining and telling the facts, every single day. Let the people know you're there!
How hard is this? There's probably better suggestions than mine if they actually hired seasoned protestors or behaviorists/psychologists or even the biggest teenage troll they can find on a messageboard.
The Emperor Has No Clothes. So fucking act like it.
DO SOMETHING!
Listen, if a Bad President can come in and take away our rights and we're dependent on a Good President replacing them in four years to give us back our rights, then we do not have any rights.
If politicians can take or distribute them, then they're not "inalienable" and they're not "rights."
We don't have inalienable rights we have conditional privileges, divvied out according to the whims of whoever currently holds the reins.
And if we want to have actual rights, then we must build a system in which no one has the power to take them away to begin with.

other ways macbeth could have died, according to the prophecy (no man of woman born)
- prophecy is trans-inclusive and he gets taken out by someone whose parent is a trans man that was pregnant with them (man of man born)
- literally any woman (woman of woman born)
- gets pushed off the roof/out a window (man did not kill him, gravity did)
- trips and falls down the stairs on the way to battlefield, lands on own sword (combination of sword and gravity)
- trips and falls down the stairs on the way to battlefield, breaks neck (gravity again)
- elaborate rube goldberg machine (prophecy has forgotten who started it by the time it reaches macbeth)
- bear
It amazes me how the National Park Service is the most vocal department against Fascism. Even the Democrats are a mumble when compared to these park rangers' adamant denouncement and exposing of this administration. Support our bravest federal workers who keep our world one worth living in.
