The groupβs goal is to protect one of the worldβs largest repositories of information from the same kind of misleading AI-generated information that has plaguedΒ Google search results,Β books sold on Amazon, andΒ academic journals.
βA few of us had noticed the prevalence of unnatural writing that showed clear signs of being AI-generated, and we managed to replicate similar βstylesβ using ChatGPT,β Ilyas Lebleu, a founding member of WikiProject AI Cleanup, told me in an email. βDiscovering some common AI catchphrases allowed us to quickly spot some of the most egregious examples of generated articles, which we quickly wanted to formalize into an organized project to compile our findings and techniques.β

A while ago I had the idea to write descriptions of Holmeses (detectives) and Watsons (biographers) from across various adaptations, as though you're adopting them from an animal shelter.

Mr Brett
Mr Brett is very close to Canon and might throw some things around after being separated. With the right companion, though, heβll thrive! Would prefer a single occupant home with lots of climbing space.

An elegant detective, Rathbone does have a silly side! He loves to play tricks and mess around with rope toys. You will have to watch him while he plays because he will tie himself up more often than not.

Howard
A fun-loving, giggly detective, Howard is a softy and very tactile. You will need at least two capes and deerstalkers available to allow for washing time, as he will insist on wearing one wherever he goes.

RDJ
RDJ is a very messy detective and goes through terrible moods when heβs on his own. Heβs a sweetheart and very heroic, but he will probably follow you into places you donβt want him to be! Buy some locks.

Benedict
Benedict is a solitary creature, and has trouble making friends. He can be rude and off-putting but he is fiercely protective of the few people he likes. Might be willing to kill for you - try not to let him.

Herlock Sholmes
Herlock Sholmes is very outgoing and enthusiastic! He is constantly seeking companionship and may end up adopting you instead. Will need lots of space for flailing and dancing.

A very talkative detective, Merrison can appear petulant at times - and he is! Once he knows you well enough heβll become extremely devoted to you, even if he doesnβt show it very often.

Canon is our most senior detective! Heβs been adopted many times but unfortunately keeps returning to us. He may seem cold and aloof, but he's really very friendly and loves to curl up in a comfy chair!

Something of a fish out of water, 22C will appreciate a home with lots of familiar elements he can use to ground himself. Suitable for someone with a regular routine and a space that he can claim as a retreat when he feels lost.

Jonny Lee
Jonny Lee is a lap detective, but only once he is comfortable. You will need to let him come to you for affection, as he wonβt accept it when offered. Get used to him bringing you βgiftsβ, even unpleasant ones; it means he likes you!

Our smallest detective is nevertheless a big character! Animated and very quick, Basil would suit a small home as he doesnβt need a lot of space. Give him a few cheese crumpets and heβll become your best friend.

Watsons
Burke & Hardwicke
Our bonded pair of biographers, Burke and Hardwicke are both sweethearts. Youβll rarely find one without the other. Both are very loyal and have a mischievous side. Donβt wake them up too early!

Bruce is perhaps not our smartest biographer, but he has a wicked sense of humour and is a friend to all. While occasionally clumsy and gruff, he will charge into danger to save you without a second thought.

Crawford rather enjoys getting into scrapes - though heβd never admit it! He tries to be the responsible one but never really puts his foot down. Make sure to have plenty of arnica on hand for his next black eye.

One of our most independent biographers, Jude is still very loyal and willing to take up arms when asked, even if he seems a bit reluctant. Has a powerful side-eye and a bit of a gambling streak.

Martin
Martin has a temper, especially when patronised or underestimated. Needs an experienced companion who can keep him occupied and challenge him. Make sure he feels appreciated or he may wander off.

Iris Wilson
Iris is our youngest biographer and extremely intelligent for her age. She is still a child though, and can be a bit selfish and emotional. You will need to be encouraging and help her learn from her mistakes.

Williams
Williams is a biographer seeking balance in his life. He is loving and fiercely loyal to Merrison, but he also has a strong independent streak. Usually a very affable character, but if he gets angry, you will know about it!

Old Unreliable
Another of our seniors, this biographer can sometimes get confused about dates and the order of events. Just be patient with him and let him write in his own way. Youβll see how much of a conductor of light he can be!

Robotson
Robotson didnβt have the best start in life - his previous owners didnβt realise he was a biographer! Thankfully heβs recovered and is now ready to make a home with a new companion. Will need someone dedicated to his routine maintenance.

Lucy
Our only other female biographer, Lucy is very intelligent and has a wide range of skills, including hand to hand combat. She is also bilingual! She makes an ideal companion, but watch out for signs of distress e.g. dyeing her hair blonde.

David Q. Dawson
This decorated and distinguished pocket-sized biographer would be perfect for a smaller home. David is very polite and will do whatever you ask of him, but he doesnβt respond well to being shouted at. Cat-free household preferred.

Call Cory Booker's office and say thank you. If you're not one of his direct constituents, say so and indicate you're calling to show he has national support. Aides and pages are allowed to speak with him and other Senators may receive messages they can pass on via questions, meaning he will find out at some point in proceedings.

If Booker continues to speak a few minutes past the 24-hour mark, his speech will surpass the previous longest-spoken filibuster, set in 1957 by noted segregationist Strom Thurmond, who took the podium at the time to oppose the Civil Rights Act.

The speech has covered a wide range of topics from health care and Social Security to immigration, the economy, public education, free speech and foreign policy. And it included portions of letters that Booker said he had received from affected constituents, as well as public comments from world leaders, in recent weeks.
And he's not doing bs tactics either.
Booker has not yet pulled out the phone book or children's literature to read from, as some of his predecessors have done on the Senate floor. He has stayed focused on the topic of Trump's agenda and how he says it is hurting everyday Americans β weaving together domestic and foreign policy concerns.

When I was a kid I had a book of like, "fun physics experiments for kids". Please make sure you have a reminder in your phone reminding you to not look at 2028/32/36 Democratic candidates and say "why are they not promising/delivering Cool Shit?" because you are going to understand that to get Cool Shit we must have competent people running a decently funded government, and we are not going to have that.
We are not getting UBI. We are not getting single payer healthcare. We are not getting free college or free preschool. We are not redistributing wealth on a large scale. We are not getting free internet. We are not getting ranked choice voting.
If we are lucky, we are going to get an IRS that can collect taxes, qualified schoolteachers, research grants, Social Security, and a government that thinks maybe it should be a priority for people around the worlds to not have AIDS, malaria or TB.

I feel like there's a certain type of "ex-evangelical" progressive who obviously supports mandatory progressive causes like abortion access and LGBT rights, but then in practice supports them "so strongly" that they can't compromise on anything. And if that means that they can't vote for candidates who support those issues because they aren't "good enough" and those issues get set back, well... That's a trade-off they're willing to make!
If there's one pro-choice candidate and one anti-choice candidate and you campaign against the pro-choice candidate because you don't think their support is strong enough, knowing that the alternative is the anti-choice candidate... I feel like you're not that pro-choice?
Or if you have one candidate who wants to maintain LGBT rights and one who wants to roll them back, and you oppose the pro-LGBT candidate because they don't want to... add 3 new sex markers to government IDs, but the other candidate wants to make it impossible to change the sex marker on your government ID at all... I don't think you're actually being very supportive of LGBT rights?

okay this is gaining notes so I just want to clarifying:
I'm not saying that the Aztec and Inca societies are not fascinating and super important. They are!!!! Please learn about them!!!! And I'm DEFINITELY not saying this to say they are inferior to Eurasian societies--I want people to learn about the societies BEFORE the Aztecs and Incas.
However, when they are lumped in with the category of "ancient" alongside Rome/Greece/Mesopotamia/Egypt etc societies from before AD 500, it has the effect of flattening Indigenous American history. This is why people are constantly losing their mind over the fact that "Oxford is older than the Aztec Empire" like okay sure. But Teotihuacan is older than Oxford, it's not like there were no societies in the Americas before the year 1300.
Basically no one seems to have a sense of the true length of Indigenous American presence and history in our own continents. That's why this bothers me.
If you don't refer to The Tudors in England as "The ancient Tudors" or The Renaissance as "The Ancient Renaissance" then it's also inaccurate to say "The Ancient Aztecs/Inca". It's really just so common for people to think that Native American history begins and ends with being colonized (thus, why they see a few decades preceding 1492 as being "ancient" for us)
