As more and more people are being forced to switch to Windows 11, Microsoft's most AI-malware-ridden OS yet, I've been putting together articles and links for how to undo the damage and save your battery, your RAM, your disk space, your privacy, and your sanity from this bullshit.
FIRST:
The easiest way to get rid of the majority of the bullshit that Windows is forcing on us, as of October 2025, is this one-stop-one-click debloat solution from a modern day hero:
A simple, lightweight PowerShell script to remove pre-installed apps, disable telemetry, as well as perform various other changes to customi
It's very easy, even if you're not tech savvy or get scared of pop up windows saying "ARE YOU SURE?" Yes, you are sure, I promise. This program takes maybe two minutes and will save you SO MUCH pain, time, and money (and exploitation).
Now that you've done that, here's the cleanup, to catch the little shit that the debloat might have missed (most of this will already be done by debloat, but hey, it's good to double check).
Microsoft wants to put AI everywhere on your PC, but you can take back control.
Even just reading about some of these features makes me angry. Fucking Copilot and "Discover" AI scrapers are in Notepad. NOTEPAD. And then there's this uncanny valley garbage:
No uncanny valley video calls for me, thanks! (Also, what else is it doing while it scans your face and listens to your calls? What else, microsoft? Because there was a lot of memory being assigned to this program for a simple "smooths your skin" add on).
Tired of Microsoft pushing ads throughout Windows 11? Here are the settings you can tweak to turn them off and reclaim some privacy.
The truly insane number of places they have stuck ads on your own home computer is sickening. Become Unmarketable.
Bonus:
Some background programs you probably don't need that are taking up space and how to remove them (Microsoft forums, 2024)
Your Samsung Galaxy Phone comes with 22 apps you don't need (Android Police, 2025)
How to disable the AI in firefox (still the only browser that lets you do this permanently) (Windows Report, 2025)
My windows 11 computer is by far the worst computer that I've used. Can't believe that I'm saying this but Chromebooks are both cheaper and better. Of course, it depends on what you want from the computer but for fucks sakes, you know what I mean.
My computer will glitch out despite being brand new, not turn on, or just straight up have horrible Bluetooth connections. The memory is "used up" like five months into using it.
Are you being fucking serious.
I've gone my entire life using Chrome books before now and while yes, it has its downsides, the downsides do NOT equate to what a windows 11 has.
My first experience with this computer was it not turning on. Like fresh out of the box.
Also, it's so slow! Like omg?!
Another thing that I'd like to add, they added this horrible toggle of "let ai autocorrect fix your work in real time. As well as help it Improve." And they put it DEEP in my settings. So they have been scrapping my work without me even knowing, no disclosure no nothing.
Had to turn this shit off but I am sure that it'll either not work or "mysteriously turn back on again."
I do not want you to use my hours of work for your shitty ai, FUCK OFF.

tape
Magnetic tape and its not even close. Have you heard a big magnetic tape drive come to life? heard its driver motors slowly spin up to speed, then the ingress reel pull down a little bit of tape into the vacuum columns, and start seeking to the desired datablock? The two reels in a delicate dance, winding or unwinding sections of the tape while the tape head carefully reads through every single byte one by one looking for a section header. Sure they're big and kinda bulky, and their capacity is peanuts compared to modern storage, but they had SOUL. these boxes are a staple of the background dressing of any early 90s lab in a movie, be it a computery one or a chemical one, there was always a tape drive nearby. Flash drives BEG to have even a fraction of the charm that tape has.
its such a shame that the only two examples of people uploaded to tape drive computers (atleast ones i remember) are Arnim Zola, a nazi scientist from a marvel movie, and Cassandra from the german netflix Cassandra.
Have you any conception of how awesome it would be to have a robot girl character thats actually being remotely driven from an underground server farm where her brain is stored on megameters of magnetic tape? that would be so cool, if a little volatile and not at all practical, but so cool!
i also choose this guys underground reel-to-reel wife
you misunderstand I'M the underground reel-to-reel wife! im the result of a horrible government lab experiment by some deprived weirdo, and saved by my beautiful human wife thats trying to store me to an SSD to stop me from shedding my tape-brains out
you have wonderful ideas
when I say I work with computers this is what I wish it meant
I almost had to cancel my sick lan party cause of my tiny ass room but luckily I had all these fuckimb chains

i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
Devastated that unfortunately out of the alternative corporate verbs "Google it" is kinda the best option

we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason
torrents work like this
i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3
unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it
i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map
i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs
this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.
crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
please learn to torrent
An expert guide to get started using torrentsTorrents are one of the most popular forms of file sharing on the internet, accounting for over
always use qbittorrent, do not use bittorrent or utorrent.
Can vouch for qbittorrent, I was a uTorrent guy for a long time (mostly because I just was too lazy to switch) but yeah the ads and the jank interface and the most recent change to a PWA instead of dedicated local client (which has an even jankier interface than it used to) finally got on my nerves.
Give it a shot, and torrent! Yes direct streaming for piracy is much better than it used to be but I like having my files!
My immediate first thought was "extreme sexual energy".
I've been doing IT for too long
I like Linux.
The Linux users on this site will reblog anything that's about Linux.
Yes
Correct
indeed I will
Yep
indeed
that checks out
Ayup
yup
sounds about right
Did someone say Linux and gay yuri?
Hmm? whats goin on?
Well it's not Microsoft so...
If you keep windows 11 on me I’ll shoot you in the head
I was born to use Linux, do you want to take away my birthright, huh? DO YOU!?

hi friends! that's 1051 of us that hate microsoft! Go us!
Hey! You've reposted one of my Microsoft memes before. I just wanted to add to the Linux asks. I've switched to Bazzite for my home desktop and it's been an absolute boon. Libre office helps a lot with work projects, I've gotten mullvad to work via the terminal but there are other gr8 available vpns, and the customization has been a godsend. Similarly, at least in my experiences, many of my games run better on Bazzite, especially Cyberpunk, Warframe, and Elden ring. 🩷
I really want to try Bazzite, just at the moment working through getting a dual boot running on my main desktop is really hard since I have literally no time (but I really really wanna see their NVIDIA support since that's been the historical biggest issues with gaming on Linux)
I also wanna know more about the non-gaming side of Bazzite, I know the OS tends towards the more locked down side (at least compared to other distros) and I just am curious about the feel for just using it as a daily driver.
