the set containing the empty set is so whimsical. it's my something of nothing
Lying on the floor in front of you is a nondescript cardboard box. You open it to find another, smaller, but otherwise identical box. This continues for far too many boxes until you reach a box so small so struggle to tear it open with your fingernails. Inside this final, miniscule box lies... nothing, fuck you.
All of you are doing this meme wrong
About to do my steam deck shell swap. lovely interpretive art I made for the occasion
good luck! let the people know how it goes

For large files the fastest will be one of these:
1. Local file sharing program like Warpinator
2. External drive
3. Directly connecting the two
But all of these take some setup so for small files or pieces of text I honestly just email myself.
have to mention localsend, it can handle big files fine as i transferred a 2.5gb movie to my pc in like 5mins. one of my favourite open source apps

I'm looking up resources on how and where ai is being stuck into all microsoft and google products (and others). Does anyone have any good links I can add to what I already have? I'm making a seminar-style presentation at my local library as part of an invitation to the community to look into Linux as an alternative.
I got the Linux user disease where you install a different distro on every piece of e-waste you own with the idea that it will now, finally, be usable again.
I have 3 separate distros, one Ubuntu, one Fedora. And now one Arch. I don’t even know how to use one well but fuck Microsoft!
(Ps: this is your sign to try out Linux if you are remotely handy and have google. Don’t go single boot till you feel confident. Guess who did that because win 11 bricked itself? ;) )
Only Arch

i remember when i was a child internet safety was like "if you even hint at the country you live in, you're gonna get kidnapped and murdered", and nowadays it is encouraged or even necessary to give corporations every single personal detail if you want to use anything because if they can't sell your information they cry so hard they throw up
DuckDuckGo, Signal, and NordVPN all stated they may stop serving Canada if Bill C-22 passes.
Here is a petition against Bill C-22, which I believe can be signed by both citizens and residents of Canada (it will tell you when you fill it out).
Bill C-22 requires digital service providers to retain metadata on Canadians for up to a year and disclose it to authorities, who can request it without an individual being under suspicion or investigation. Even with planned adjustments to the bill to require encryption, this still represents a massive security issue. It also represents a huge privacy concern and raises concerns over Canadian protections from unreasonable search and seizure.
Please reblog to spread the word.

Cats are so complex. You try to give them attention and sometimes they're like "yeah" but then sometimes they're like "no." Incomprehensible.

‘capitalism works’ factoid actually untrue. the 62 people who own half the world’s wealth are outliers and should be eaten.
Absolutely nuts how they made up a number for this satire post and the correction is that reality is *more absurd* than the number they chose
no i’m afraid it’s even worse than that. 62 was correct in 2016 when the original post was made.
See how global wealth is distributed across 3.8 billion adults, ranging from those with less than $10K in net worth to billionaires.
This claims the top 1.6% of adults hold 48.1% of the world's wealth, or 60 million people. It also claims the world's total wealth is $470.5 trillion USD. Even if the world's wealth were only equal to global GDP (>$120 T) we would still need 62 trillionaires for them to have half the wealth.
8 men having the same wealth as half the world is a different claim. It means the bottom 50% of people have the same wealth as the top 8, but says nothing about what that percentage is. Per my source, the bottom 40.7% of adults have around $2.7 T. A quick glance at the Forbes billionaire list says 8 could be right, but it looks a little low. This might just be because some people don't show up on the list.
A quick glance at the Oxfam article, and it seems 8 was their calculation for 2017, and 62 their original calculation for 2016, later revised down to 9, saying they overestimated how much the poorest 50% have. The comparison was to the wealth of the poorest 50%.
My sources might be off, and wealth disparity is a huge issue regardless.
