i am preparing one of my next generations that will set grounds on selvadorada. i usually have a lot of fun while playing the jungle adventures, but i wanna try something different this time so i went searching for some extra mods to jazz up my next jungle gameplay. so here i am sharing my finds with you, hope it helps you too!

Hey!

It hadn’t even crossed my mind to do that, haha! In part because at first, it was full of CC… and I didn’t think anyone would be interested. I’ve removed most of it with the release of the Ranch pack, but there’s still some left.

Actually, I think the only CC left is the church steeple from @felixandresims (and I believe it’s available for free on his Tumblr).

It really means a lot that you like them enough to want them in your game, and I’m super happy to find a new Westworld fan here too ❤️

saw @buzzardly28's death bonnets and so of course i leapt into action. so heres some mourning looks! in order, they're inspired by the: regency period, 1830s, 1840s, 1860s, 1880s, 1900s, 1920s, and 1940s. <3 time to disappear into my hole again

Milkis 28 Day CAS Challenge @mil-kis Day 21 - Book

the 1960s were also known as the swingin' sixties, and that name could not be more appropriate. while some other decades had moved towards comfort, the 1960's truly embraced it. some of the youth simply threw on a tunic and stepped into some pants and walked out the door! the popularity of television broadcasted different styles and trends across the country and the world. new materials like acrylics and polyesters were cheap to produce and to buy, and made fashion more accessible than it ever had been. the swingin' sixties brought the youth miniskirts, striped sweaters, the boxy "mod" look, and the bright, fun makeup associated with famous artists like twiggy. some older women tended towards the skirt + suit jacket combination worn by first lady jackie kennedy, but the comfort of the youth was appealing to all ages. beatnik fashion was also popular, with trim black trousers and dark sweaters. in 1964, hairspray was the most popular beauty product on the market – and it showed in the elaborate updos of the era. as the decade drew to a close, the "hippie" style was a popular look among the youth, with loose fitting tops and baggy pants, as well as maxi skirts. many of the hippies incorporated crafts into their fashion, with patchwork and beadings becoming popular.

this is only a very brief summary – the trends and influences of the 1960s are vast and complex, just as the 1960s themselves were. the social revolutions mirrored the revolutions in fashion, and i could write essays about it. but i am tired and i moved in today.

decided to have an oc of mine model this decade!! so please excuse the cyborg segue, and say hello to marigold honeycutt, showing off the styles of the 1950s!

while dior's not-so-new-anymore look still reigned supreme, the 1950s was, in many ways, a new age of fashion. while there were certainly still iconic styles and trends, such as the poodle skirt (often labelled as the "first teen fashion trend"), the rockabilly and greaser styles, and the stereotypical housewife, fashion began to shift to comfort and personal style over trends in a more significant way than it had before. the advent of television spread styles and promoted looks far and wide. the boom of department stores and fashion catalogues/magazines gave your average person access to clothing that they didn't have before.

from this decade on, expect a few iconic subcultures/counter-cultural styles to be featured!

the first half of the 1940s was, of course, dominated by world war two. just as with world war one, more women were involved in the war effort, and those who weren't often took the jobs dominated by men. icons such as rosie the riveter propagated a sort of idealized "tough girl" image, with her denim coveralls and clenched fists – yet red lips, defined lashes, and thin brows. she was just masculine enough to fit the mold of serving one's country, and still feminine enough for the general public to accept. once again, fabric rationing led to certain garments and styles being reused and revamped. some designers, like claire mccardell, worked within the confines of wool and silk rationing to create clothing made of denim and jersey knits. "ready-to-wear" clothing was becoming more popular, especially in the united states, allowing fashion trends to spread faster and further than before. at the end of the decade, christian dior debuted his "new look", which would set the stage for the iconic mid-century silhouette: cinched waists (thanks a lot, dior...), full skirts, and round shoulders. this "new look" emphasized the stereotypical ideal of femininity and ruled post-war fashion.

okay, maybe the tangent about claire mccardell wasn't that important, but i did just see a museum exhibit about her, so i wanted to include it.

(ps. i know 1942 isnt entirely accurate but it was a fit of inspiration, and it takes like 20 minutes to get my game open so i was not willing to exit when i already had two looks done)

fuck it. higher class english woman from a jewish-italian family and her cornish childhood friend-turned-housemaid that slowly fell in love over the 1910s.

on a more personal note, i don't think i can describe the big old smile on my face when i saw the antique wheelchair from @lilis-palace and the accompanying poses. disability related cc is few and far between, and finding historical disability related cc is like finding a dolphin in the desert. disabled people have always been here, and will always be here.

we've existed throughout history! shanidar one was a neanderthal who had brain damage and possible paralysis, and is estimated to have lived to be between thirty-five and forty-five – pretty old for a neanderthal! disabled people show up often in medieval and biblical texts. the greek god hephaestus is famously described as "lame," "deformed," and/or "impaired". various disabled bodies are portrayed in ancient egyptian art. some people with developmental/learning disabilities were honored by western european courts in the renaissance and believed to be closer to god. closer to the time period portrayed in this post, rosa may billinghurst was known as the "cripple suffragette" and was involved in near constant rallying for women's rights. disabled people are overlooked in studies and perceptions of history for so many reasons; mistreatment, abuse, erasure, eugenics, different ways of categorizing and labelling disabilities, and simply being lost to time and translation. but we've always existed. for every iconic figure of disability history, there's hundreds more who simply existed and had their lives forgotten.

there's names you know like helen keller, frida kahlo, franklin d. roosevelt, and names you don't. if anything i've said at all has interested you, here are a few more notable disabled people from history and modernity to research if you'd like: brad lomex, wilma mankiller, niccolò paganini, ivar the boneless, and barbara jordan.

Ringing in the golden age of the roaring twenties is our heiress Miss Zelda Darlington. There is some continuity with her older lookbooks, mostly in her silhouette and color choices. As hemlines reach their shortest in the mid 20s, Zelda’s dresses still remain relatively conservative given her career as a nightclub singer and her free-spirited lifestyle. She still prefers blues and warm tones of yellow and orange, but the hues of these colors have grown brighter and bolder, as she herself becomes more confident.

Of course the biggest difference to her earlier lookbooks is her hair. Symbolic of her deeper anxieties toward life, Zelda’s long hair has been cut into a classic 20s bob. She usually styles it in simple waves, but it is often also seen unkempt when she spends her days at home with Antoine.

There is also much more ornamentation and flashiness than any of her earlier lookbooks. We see this particularly in her headbands, which she wears to highlight her short hair. However, her jewelry of choice still remains a string of pearls, harkening back to her innocence. With some outfits, she even continues to wear her sister Rosella’s ring, signifying that no matter how much she has changed, Zelda still remains deeply tied to her past.

Kicking off this decade in fashion is our heir Zelda Darlington. She’s seen here just after her 18th birthday in 1919 through the early years of the 1920s. This covers her wardrobe during her last year in Henford and her first years in New Orleans.

Zelda’s wardrobe purposefully takes influence from two different worlds. The majority of her clothes still lean heavily into the mid to late 1910s; her silhouette is especially rooted in this era, with its tight but low-slung waist, tapered ankle length bottoms, and double hoop skirts.

This does makes sense as Zelda would still be wearing her clothes from this period, but it is also indicative of the more conservative, shy aspect of Zelda’s character. Even as she comes to the new world, it is difficult for her to leave her family and her past behind her.

However, we are beginning to see some evolution in her style. This is most apparent in her second going out look and her party dress (which she wears to perform at the jazz club). The former is meant to be one of Josephine’s old dresses, and it indiciates a shift in shiloutte which Zelda is just beginning to experiment with. The latter, with its nipped waistline and double hoop skirt, actually fits quite well into Zelda’s more conservative wardrobe. However, she’s paired it with a circlet and lace gloves, which show her beginning to blossom into the jazz singer that she has somehow become.
