Maybe an unpopular opinion but I don't see Ligtning and Cruz as father and daughter, they are more of an older brother-younger sister duo. Lightning is a rookie racer in the first movie so he must have been in his early 20s back then which makes him being in his early-mid 30s by the time of Cars 3 and Cruz must have been like in her early-mid 20s. Lightning's not old enough to be Cruz's "dad".

#mcqueen is canonically 40 lol #car timeline is too confusing #but yes he is 40 and it makes sense why he is treated like an old man throughout the movie #but mcqueen being cruz's older brother suits very well too #its just the parallels with doc and mcqueen that start the father-daughter dynamic
