I thought I'd shout out this very interesting cars fanfic, written by @theoverzealousone.
It entirely uses OCs, and focuses on the "Old Guard," - a faction Dinoco founded to combat the technology driven generation of Jackson Storm.
The main character, Dash Boltarius (if I'm correct, you pronounce that Bolt-air-ee-us) is aiming to get "The Clean Sweep," - or win 20% of the races in a season. But his longtime rival Rush Ascarison stands in his way.
