Pairing: Loki x Reader

Warnings: Loki, Violence, Blood/Gore, Death, Slow Burn, Fighting, Angst, Tragic Backstory

Notes: I try to make my fics as immersive as possible, so that most readers can easily insert themselves. This doesn’t always work out, but I am trying and learning as I go.  

The character is unnamed, as in her real name is never said (her name is whatever your name is) but I hate using Y/N so I have her addressed by nicknames instead.  

Her appearance is left mostly blank, I’ll only ever mention things that are changeable, like hair length etc, and only if it’s necessary to the story.  

I don’t mention religion at all, I try to leave that open to interpretation, leaving enough space in the story for the reader to make it fit with their own beliefs… however I may accidentally write her eating or doing something that doesn’t fit with a certain religion, if that happens feel free to tell me!  

If for plot reasons, a major character is the parent of the reader, it’s always going to be via adoption. I no longer write characters who are biologically related to characters who are canonically a certain race.

PROLOUGE: 

Love conquers all.

  It was the most painful lie ever told, because in a peaceful moment, it was the easiest lie in the world to believe. In it’s Springtime, love does feel very much undefeatable, and it can thaw even the coldest of hearts. But life is cruel, and difficult, and even love isn’t always strong enough to shield you from the winter storms.

“Do you love me?”

We are shocked and heartbroken to hear about the shooting at Oslo’s London Pub, a popular gay bar, that left two people dead and twenty one gravely wounded. The police are treating this as a terrorist attack. Oslo Pride, which was supposed to have taken place today, has been cancelled for safety reasons. 

Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones. 

This news is tough, on all of us in the community, as once again, the scene of this tragedy was a gay club, one of the rare places meant to be a safe space for LGBTQ people, and where they are to be able to enjoy themselves and find some respite from the inequalities and pressures they face in everyday life.

The cancellation of Oslo pride as a result is a bitter pill to swallow - necessary for safety, today, but hopefully a safe Oslo pride can be held in the coming weeks or months in honor of the victims.

If ever anyone thought “pride is not necessary anymore”, this is your answer. 

We believe that we should not stop fighting from our safe spaces now out of fear, because it is this very fear and isolation that the attackers seek to create. We are stronger, we find support in our community, and will continue to seek and build that community. We will keep finding each other  in our bars, we will keep fighting for our safe space and attend Pride.

Same for works on AO3. Sure, maybe some of us have some old works that aren’t up to our current standards of writing. But I, personally, am never going to look at a kudos email and think “ew omg I can’t believe someone found this fic from 2016 why are they liking it”. In fact, I am entirely going to go “nice! people are still reading some of my older works too, I’m glad they enjoyed it”. It’s an archive, it is meant to be a collection of transformative works, old and new, and you are meant to find them. 

In fact, if you find a work that is from five years ago and you really liked it? I bet the author would love a comment even then.

Stories are written to be read. 

Part of why there’s sortable searches at AO3 is to let you find fics for a now-dormant fandom, fics that are no longer canon-compliant after the new episodes, fics that work with fanon tropes that are no longer popular, fics from authors who are no longer actively writing… and just fics that weren’t written recently.
