personally i think the F1 commentators should be Nico Rosberg with a muppet Lewis Hamilton

when they announce the casting for the new bond i shouldn't recognize his name or face. i should have to google him and then when i look at his wikipedia go well yeah that's why i've never heard of him. he was laertes in a rsc production of hamlet six years ago and his breakout role was on a bbc crime drama that was popular but didn't do well internationally. every other credit should be an art film. the guy they cast as the new bond should've been disappeared in the night from a regional production of angels in america thrown in a suit and plopped on a movie set. if i've seen one thing the new bond has been in i don't want him.

when you grew up as a lonely uncool girl it will never stop haunting you by the way. you will meet a cool person at a bar or the train station or at a friend's party and you can wear your most stylish outfit and striking eye makeup and you will swear that they can see through all of the facade and see the lonely terribly insecure teenage girl you used to be who desperately wanted to connect and you will swear that they know that there is like an insurmountable gap between you. this will happen forever

they really gave us a female lead in a star wars movie & made her kind and good and angry and powerful and complex & then spent the next 2 movies revolving almost her entire storyline around a white male war criminal who abused her, abused her friends, abused her family. all the while validating all the people who romanticized gaslighting and torture. for fan service lmao 

they also gave us a strong black male lead who was kind and rebelled against his entire way of life when he saw the atrocities he was expected to take part in. He risked his life to save others and was shown to love and care deeply for his friends and willing to sacrifice himself to save him. Then the next two movies infantilize him to be this weak self preserving side character with literally no agency beyond yelling other character’s names.

They also gave us a Latino sci-fi hero who was an ace fighter pilot with a heart of gold and a wealth of courage who showed an incredible amount of support and kindness and trust towards a man who he had just met. Then the next two movies relegated him to being a chronic fuck-up and then ret-conned his ace pilot backstory in service of a racist drug dealer backstory to make him more like Han Solo

every so often the discourse comes around again that basically boils down to “is it feminist for a woman to want men to be attracted to her” and it’s like. no, it’s not. it’s also not anti feminist. it’s not relevant. it’s nothing. a woman wanting to have sex with men has nothing to do with feminism. being a lesbian or celibate is not “more feminist” than being a straight woman. the point was always “women should not have to dress in a way that is attractive to men solely in order to be acknowledged by them at all” not “women should never dress in a way that is attractive to men for any reason.” sometimes a woman wants men to want to have sex with her. that’s not anti feminist. that’s average. it’s also not feminist just because it’s her choice to do it. it is not related. feminism is about women’s human rights. that doesn’t mean it’s a feminist act every time a woman makes a choice.

it used to be that people would defend that new 8 episodes per season formula by saying the writing is a lot better and the story is the true focus without time wasted on so called filler. well now that writers mastered making the mistakes of the 24 episodes long seasons of the 2000s can we at least get more episodes again or

being a tv show enjoyer in the mid 2020s is so much fun omg not only do we get the pacing issues and inconsistent characterization of tv from 2000s they also only air for two months and then go on hiatus for up to 3 years. truly the best of both worlds
