What if Bart Simpson was a chav!
What if Bart Simpson was a chav! đ´ó §ó ˘ó Ľó Žó §ó ż
Listening exclusively to live concert recordings recently god some of them blow studio recordings out of the water⌠Sam Cooke made the most fun night in history happen in the Harlem square club in 1963 and I missed it because my gay ass wasnât born yet
here, i've annotated a helpful diagram for you
"afab only housing" is honestly beautiful. it's #progress to use inclusive language when discrimating against trans women
you might as well just say "no men, and yeah I think men includes you trannies (but trans men aren't men you ladies are welcome đĽ°)"
^^^
I will also that trans men or non-binary people of any agab will often also be kicked out of these shelters and housing, bc they are deemed too masculine. In the UK there are specific additions to the rules around trans people being their agab, that state trans men can be removed from women's spaces if they are deemed too masculine (this does not grant them access to male spaces)
So its not quite as simple as 'trans women are misgendered and barred, and trans men are only misgendered' bc if they can punish trans people for existing, they will do so.
how are you drawing an equivalence between men being barred from women's spaces and women being barred from women's spaces
Um what? The very first entry read âAFABs onlyâ and I believe this person was pointing out how even that sometimes isnât adhered to when you present a certain way or youâre on T?
It was perfectly on topic.
@oojamaflip-whatchamacallit
And someone in a screenshot claimed âonly trans women are denied housingâ which this person corrected. Trans men are in fact also denied housing.
Did you just miss the screenshot reblog?
And sorry but a trans man trying to go to a men-centric shelter is TERRIFYING.
So even if it were the case that trans men could get in, and the claim that trans women have it âso much worseâ were true, that just completely ignores the still-awful plight of trans men. Who are at risk of rape and pregnancy. What happened to solidarity?
(Whereas the fear is the other way around for womensâ shelters- because patriarchy and trauma)
This isnât because of any sort of misogyny unfortunately. Itâs the penises.
itâs funny that the poltical climate is like âHmmm genital checks for underage kids playing sports, hmmm yesâ but genital checks for literal adults who can consent and simply get a doctorâs note for such isnât suggested for the most vulnerable vagina-havers to feel safe. Like if bottom modification was required that wouldnât fix the problem- but it would at least extend housing to those trans women. And maybe in some places it could be pushed to even those who have had orchi even if they hadnât had full surgery.
Orchi is much simpler, cheaper, and less recovery-involved than doing the whole thing. It provides the benefits of a measure of feminization of the whole body without the multiple potential complications. (Now if only we could get the state to fund it ⌠much easier budget push than the more involved ones, too. Baby steps.)
ngl it took some time and scrolling your account to conclude you weren't just a really genius satire account. I'm disappointed. with lines like:
"a trans man trying to get into a man-centric shelter is TERRIFYING" (why would a trans man try to get into a "man-centric shelter" (what the fuck is a man-centric shelter btw, we just making shit up now) when he could just go to the women's shelter and they'd let him in)
"This isn't because of any sort of misogyny unfortunately. It's the penises"
Suggesting genital checks at homeless shelters to be a totally normal and actually beneficial thing and that it would make "the most vulnerable vagina-havers to feel safe
The idea that a post-op trans women is safer around "the most vulnerable vagina havers" than a pre-op trans woman purely because "rape organ"
One day soon, I hope you wake up from your dream state and open your eyes to the horrors that real, living human beings are facing instead of creating a culture of hate and fear mongering in your own little circle of the internet.
âwhen they could just go to the womenâs shelterâ

âcreatingâ
Literally what.
âMaking bargains and carving out accessibility concessions in a current transphobic culture could look like Xâ is not âcreatingâ anything. Transphobia already exists.
No wonder you canât grasp my blog, you lack the critical thinking skills and make wild conclusions that donât follow from whatâs being said.
If you have a hard time conceptualizing that a post-op trans woman cannot rape in the typical sense nor cause pregnancy, (ergo traumatized people feel more secure. Note this is not âall trans women are rapistsâ as some no-nuance takes conclude in error) tho-
Thatâs not inability to grasp nuance, which is what the rest of your message reads as, but straight up putting blinders on.
A person with trauma involving dog bites would also feel more secure with an old dog that had barely any teeth.
No matter how sweet any given tooth-having dog was around them.
They are often still nervous around dogs. This is especially true for POC.
Maybe you people just donât exactly understand how trauma works. @kum-and-go-official
@badgersandbees Knives and wine bottles donât stab anyone by themselves, but if you were stabbed with a certain knife or a broken wine bottle, you might have PTSD anxiety in the presence of those items sitting around. Hope this helps!
The obvious solution to this is that we tell women with sexual trauma to drop trow and have their genitals inspected by a stranger. I am very smart.
By doctors. Yes. You do understand that rape victims have to submit to much more invasive medical tests to submit a rape kit, right? A mere glance by a medical professional, by comparison, is literally nothing. SMH.
Saying that women should have to have a genital inspection to be allowed into womenâs shelters kind of gives the game away though doesnât it? Youâre admitting that there isnât any actual material harm coming from someone with a penis, because if there were you wouldnât need an inspection to prove it. The fear that a trans woman who might have a penis might assault a cis woman is what youâre saying should prevent trans women from staying at these shelters, which IS material harm being done. I understand that people who were raped by men may have trauma responses surrounding penises, but if my mere existence in a space with someone causes them to have a trauma response, itâs not on me to stop existing or leave the space, especially when it would be unsafe for me to do so, ie sleeping on the street rather than in a shelter. By letting peopleâs fears of an imaginary penis control our criteria for letting someone into a womenâs space, itâs making the space less safe for everyone.
Me, trying to impress my date with a display of my boundless humility: I would like to order one single, solitary crumb.
Waitress taking my order: Such arrogance! Not only do you presume to boast under the guise of being humble, but your order employs the most decadent of linguistic excesses - the tautology!
My date, who until recently thought "tautology" referred to the study of tensile strengths and upon learning her mistake compensated by reading through its Wikipedia article: That would be more correctly identified as a "pleonasm".
The editor I hired to curate my posts who styles himself as a sort of scheming court advisor: My liege, this one is getting away from us. The punchline loses much of its impact when the rest of the joke is derailed by this increasingly self-indulgent meta humour. Were it up to me, your Grace, which of course it is not, I would cut the others and leave myself as the only supporting character. You need noone else, Your Majesty...
My card: Declines

âWomen canât rape peopleâ thx for that nuanced take
I've said it before and I'll say it again, trans men are not "lesser" men than cis men, but even if it were true that trans men were somehow adjacent to womanhood in a way that cis men are not, that would not imply they are less privileged over trans women and other transfeminized people.
cis men, cis women, trans men, and tme nonbinary people, are all privileged over transfeminized people on the basis of our being able to leverage transmisogyny while being able to dodge its worst effects.
any of us, literally any of us, if mistaken for transfeminized people can not only escape that accusation with the literal backing of the state's assignment, but also usually receive community support in the form of everyone insisting that this violence was wrongfully applied to us, rather than challenging the violence itself.
people are outraged on our behalf. this violence is not naturalized for us. it is incidental and invites righteous defense on our behalf. this is extremely not the case for transfeminized people.
it is transphobic in and of itself to argue that trans men are not "real" men on the basis of their being trans. it is also transmisogynistic in and of itself to argue that trans men (or tme nonbinary people, or cis women) are less capable of enacting and escaping forms of oppressive gendered violence on the basis of their being assigned female at birth.
the idea that a trans man is somehow less capable of (or rather, less accountable for) transmisogyny if remaining closeted as a cis woman is rooted in the very transmisogynistic worldview that trans women are identifying.
you cannot identify out of responsibility for your part in dismantling transmisogynistic systems of gender valuation. no one can. even transfeminized people themselves must constantly interrogate their own participation in these structures, for their sisters and their own survival. everyone must, but usually only transfems do. this is the issue.
worry less about what your gender "means" and more about the actual facts of your life and where you have power to make decisions in line with transfeminist liberation. literally, not as an abstracted notion of your class, but you as a person. as you move through your day to day life, be more conscious of how you move through gendered structures, and whenever you can, move the needle towards transfeminism.
