this post is over a month old. i spent over a year eating once a day. the stress of moving here and enduring these people has made things worse. my body is eating through my muscles. it physically hurts trying to type. it pains me to spend some of the $300 on food but i have to bc if not i won't even have the capacity to go anywhere. please keep sharing. i need to leave.

the place I work at remodeled these split gendered restrooms into “inclusive restrooms” and never told us what they meant while construction was ongoing. I need you to know every atom of potential criticism or whining that could’ve happened disappeared when people found out this meant we got 10 fully separate private bathrooms with sinks inside. I’ve not heard a single person crack a joke about the inclusive signage. this is the world TERFs are trying to steal from you

This is why Pride is not just a party. It's a joyful celebration, but it's also a pointed and colourful two-finger salute to a world that stood back whilst so many of us died. And we'll never go quietly, never again.

i wish there were more ways to communicate to people under ~30 the scale of what the aids epidemic was like before antiretrovirals, the numbers (both absolute and relative) of people who died, and kept dying, every day for years and years and years, because it's very hard to truly understand looking back from today if you aren't actively seeking out understanding. the photo above of the choir is one thing that works well, as is this piece from 1987 by fran lebowitz.

I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with relating to characters, “they’re literally me” etc but if that’s the only way you engage with stories you’re kinda missing the whole point of Characters being vehicles through which we can see perspectives outside of our own. and also you’re going to get upset when the Character acts in a way that is not Personally Relatable to You

doubly for shipping. at risk if biting the hand that feeds me, a well written fictional relationship should ideally be more than a didactic template for how to have a nice relationship

idk but when i discover new books and music i’m just excited to be alive again. yes a bit dramatic but that’s how i feel when i discover them
