okay absolutely baffled by yesteryear. approaching the concept of a social media tradwife via a woman who has a fraught relationship to motherhood and femininity who is objectively awful in a truly amazing way (maximizing her cersei lannister slay!!) and then pushing the tradwife situation to such unhinged depths really is making me feel like i wasn't supposed to enjoy the main character as a person and that it was supposed to be, like. gratifying to see her suffer instead of ever improving. the twist felt like an extremely cruel way to approach this topic, especially when the character you're using to interrogate tradwives is so complex and interesting and fucked up but sympathetic

actually very taken aback to see this book referred to as a satire. girl. is that what we're calling it.

also my hold on yesteryear finally came in (before the end of the year even!) and i'm like halfway through and trying to figure out what we're doing thematically here. i get the sense there's some sort of twist coming, so i can't make a full judgement until i know what exactly that is, but um. the way we're approaching the topic of tradwives might not be super awesome as of where i'm at now
