It’s kind of ironic seeing people accusing others of taking part in an echo-chamber but go around blocking everyone that disagrees with them.

Of course if you’re not into discourse and politics, do what you want, but if you’re actively putting out your opinions, but blocking everyone who may disagree or try to give you a different opinion, you’re blocking one more person from accessing this information you think is so valuable or correct. You’re also blocking opinions of others which in turn creates your own echo-chamber.

The more a name appears on a blocklist, the more that person will be secluded to only a small group of people with a small set of opinions. If every tucute blocks every transmed, they will absolutely y’all amongst themselves. You’re not blocking their platform, only narrowing their view of the world. If you want to make change, consider opening yourself to others a little bit. You will never change a mind that you have placed behind a wall. And they likely aren’t going to change their view if you’re always keeping them on the outside.

Studies have shown that people are conformists. Even when it goes against their own knowledge. Even if it goes against a clear truth. Against scientific research and evidence. Doesn’t matter what group, if you have misinformed people in it leading discussions, you’ll always have people dropping their own critical thinking, in favor of being liked. Delivery of information from another person is stronger than ones own discovery of information. Just an unfortunate truth. But you can become aware of that and learn to be critical of the self and of the group you belong to.

Groups will inevitably become misinformation machines because groups are social structures and people are social creatures. Claims with no evidence and no explanation are often just opinions, not facts. If your group favors the narrative of “you’re wrong and that’s the end” you should really reassess what it is that you stand for.

Leave groups that favor political opinions over science. That’s simply just a group of people who look solely for evidence supporting their positions, not forming their opinions on tangible data. That’s dishonest.

Tucutes, you do this. Transmeds, you do this (not usually as often though). Radfems, you do this. Liberals, you do this. Conservatives, you do this.

Be your own person. Not having a group to belong to on the internet is not going to hurt you. It may even make you a better person. Your social fulfillment should not come from trying to insult people on the internet because they’re not “one of you”. People get social fulfillment online, loneliness depression can lessen. That may lead one to say that the loniler people may be spending more time online as a means of offering relief. That’s not necessarily a good thing when groups are fueled heavily by toxic politics in which one may lose their means of socialization and relief from loneliness if they stray from group narratives.

This absolutely offers incentive to strengthen the narrative of the group to increase social standing and that may mean dishonestly producing cherry-picked information from heavily biased “sources” because it may agree with a misleading or misinformed opinion. And if one can’t do that, blocking out criticism (because many of the people looking for fulfillment online are more sensitive to criticism) and simply turning away outside information: “*These* people are wrong” put into a visually pleasing art piece with no explanation or information to support the statement, accompanied by tags drawing other members of the group and deterring members of opposing groups i.e. “dni tags”.

I get that everyone’s afraid of being wrong because being wrong can get you ostracized nowadays, but seriously just have your opinions and stick to them. Don’t make a statement and then completely change it when someone calls out a flaw and act like you were perfectly right the whole time. Say what you mean and if you really believe it, defend it. If you don’t really believe it then why tf are you saying it in the first place other than to be confrontational??

We get it, you want to always be against the popular movement. You wanna be a new brand of hipster. “Oh I used to be a transmed back when it first began, but the new wave is disgusting”. Back when? 2015??

You wanted to be a transmed because it was “distasteful” and you could go unchecked and make it what you wanted. But now that more people hopped on and you’re not as relevant as a “founding member” as you thought you’d be, you got mad and stormed out. What were you in it for then? Just wanted to be a dick? We’re you in it to be one of the few and make yourself important in the community? Wanted to do it back when it was edgy, but now it’s too popular? Realize you didn’t actually have dysphoria and didn’t want to be pushing something that would push yourself out?

Most of you seem to forget to think critically about things anymore. Nobody’s having discussions with anyone outside of the groups they already agree with. You all just want to sit in your safe little boxes and criticize eachother. Giving all these labels to others is doing nothing but promote stereotypes and prevent others from trying to communicate outside your boxes. Other people have plenty of valuable opinions and insight but are too afraid to talk to those people and be ostracized.

Stop making posts like: “we all know the real enemy is (blank)”. We are all trying to make the world better and safer for everyone, you just want someone to fight. Always want to make someone else the bad guy. Well sorry but you aren’t a soldier, you aren’t in battle, and there is no war. Just talk to people you disagree with. Try to see where they’re coming from. You will never dissolve a misconception or misunderstanding with aggression and antagonistic rhetoric. Most of you only have small ideological differences but would never even know because you’re too busy judging people by a label you gave them.
