Thinking about Tsukishima and Yamaguchi this morning but specifically about them being best friends, and the sort of "we got through hell together" bond childhood best friends have and I think it's often overlooked in their dynamic because they are so funny in pretty much every other way. But I just like the thought, of when they're 25, and Tsukishima is puttering around and making breakfast and Yamaguchi is watching him fondly, remembering when they were 16 and Tsukki was res-eyed and stressed about upcoming entrance exams for university and how the world felt like it would always be trapped in that anxiety riddled moment, but look, here he is, well since graduated from that same university and humming softly. And Tsukishima pours a mug of coffee, and loads it up with sugar and slides it across to Yamaguchi, and all he's remembering is when they were 13, and Yamaguchi sat in his back yard and cried because some kids had tripped him on the sidewalk, and it felt like they were always going to be 13, stuck in the muddy backyard listening to mockery from the other kids, but lo and behold Yamaguchi is right there in front of him, all grown up, and he takes the coffee with a soft thank you, its made exactly how he likes it. And they both go back to their mornings. And they both made it out the other side.
