I have never understood the visceral hatred for the word "moist." It conveys its meaning so plainly and truly, impossible to mistake or misunderstand. It's almost onomatopoeic in its accuracy, and yet it receives no appreciation or praise. Why are you not kinder to this hardworking, well-tailored word? Perhaps because you dislike what it represents? It had no choice in the matter. Can you imagine? Being this word? What a piteous duty to have, what a desolate role to inhabit, with your only reward to be eternally scorned and universally reviled for nothing more than doing your job too well.
