So I'm rereading the comics again, as I do...and this made me laugh so much. I remembered Willow asking Satsu what Buffy's like in bed, but I totally forgot that she says she's been wondering about it for a long time and wonders if she made her high squeal she makes for shoe sales.
I just...the way they teased a potential thing between Buffy and Willow was really awful because they knew they weren't going to do it, but they keep throwing little things like this in.
Like...Willow, that's the gayest thing to ever gay. If you spend years wondering what your best friend is like in bed and what noises she makes during sex...I'd say that goes a little past platonic. But maybe that's just me lol

i made this post in 2022 and then in 2024 i actually did make my rankings but never posted them! it is now 2026. so without further ado...
btvs episodes ranked by how central buffy and willow's relationship was to the story or how much buffy and willow were visibly in love with each other :-)
as an intro, i rewatched the show in its entirety in 2024 with the primary purpose of ranking each episode for its buffywillowness. this is obviously subjective, and a lot of it was vibes-based, but as a general rule of thumb, more shared screentime meant a higher rating, and key plot elements revolving around their relationship meant the highest rating. my rewatch document is 93 pages and 58k words long, so i also have THOUGHTS to back up these ratings, ok.
basic rating guidelines:
1: they literally don't interact in any imaginable way
2-3: they at least stand next to one another or think about each other at some point
4-5: they share scenes, but nothing integral
6-7: exceeds expectations, i'm happy to be here
7.5-8.5: i am standing up and clapping my hands !!!
9-10: i am crying on the floor and losing my entire mind (complimentary)

i averaged out my rankings for each season and this was the verdict of shippiest to least shippy season:
1. Season 4 (average: 6.4)
