So Harry’s in the crystal cave with Dumbledore right? And Dumbledore just sent out a wave of fire to destroy the Inferi. Only Harry still sees a body crawling out of the water. And it doesn’t look like an Inferi. In fact, it looks like a boy. Maybe a year or two older than him.

And the boy coughs and splutters before looking up.

And his face melts with relief and he cries,

“Now I find some so-called ‘friends’ of mine here, think they can win without me”

“You know, men? I thought I had friends, who would stick by me through thick or thin”

“There are precious few friends here”

“Fair price for a friend… my only friend”

Achilles’ “flawed immortality” that’s sung about in the beginning isn’t just about his heel, it’s about the consequences of perceiving himself as immortal when really he isn’t. By going on and on about how he is better than every one and how they can’t survive without him like he’s some kind of god is what (obviously) pushes him away from people.

Even though a god is meant to be worshipped and venerated with hundreds of devoted followers, achilles doesn’t get any of that—at least in the long run—because he’s not a god. Instead he ends up missing out on the most important human experience; friendship and community. And I think he realizes this once patroclus dies

“Who suffered me my foolish pride, my arrogance, my pain”

After losing the only person who actually cared about him (lord knows why) he realizes how much he took patroclus for granted, and how much he actually craves human connection once he was finally deprived of it all. He’s kind of the definition of “it’s lonely at the top”

“Fools play follow the leader, see if I really care” YOU DO!!! YOU CARE SO MUCH WHY CANT YOU JUST FEEL!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!

^^^ this line also speaks to so much insecurity but yknow that’s a topic for another day

Basically what was in my head during this scene.

she wanted to go back to that, not cause it was extraordinary, but because it was hers. she had carved a life for herself where she could help other people and it was enough for her.

she didn't need the stars, she didn't need some far away galaxy to tell her what she'd always been. and she definitely didn't need another doctor to try and show her what she's known all along.

she wasn't someone's daughter, she wasn't someone's mother. she didn't have to go back she had to be something for someone else, she wanted to go back because she wanted to be something for herself.
