Grab your ticket and your suitcase, thunder's rolling down this track Well, you don't know where you're going now, but you know you won't be back Well, darling, if you're weary, lay your head upon my chest We'll take what we can carry, yeah, and we'll leave the rest
Well, big wheels roll through fields where sunlight streams Meet me in a land of hope and dreams
I wish there was a way I could describe the emotion I felt at finally being able to watch Union Pacific 4014 in motion. To let people understand what it was like to hear its whistle from miles away as it echoed across hills far, far older than this country and even humanity. To be able to walk right up to it and its brother, 4012, who hadn't been together in well over 60 years.
But maybe there isn't a way. And that's alright. All I can say is that it's an experience that I'll never forget.
