Ao3 Tips and Tricks
So I thought I would make a post about some cool stuff you can do with Ao3 and userscripts, and some tips I’ve learned from setting them up for myself! I promise it's not hard, though this is a lot of info. I'm happy to help if I can.
What You’ll Need:
First, you will need the Tampermonkey extension for your browser (depending on what browser you use, Greasemonkey is the equivalent). On Android, you can even run Chrome extensions on mobile with Kiwi Browser! It is easiest to configure the scripts on your desktop and then sync to mobile with Tampermonkey’s cloud sync feature or by exporting the configured scripts and importing in your mobile browser (I will explain how to do this later in the post). If you use any of the tweaks I outline below, be sure to backup your scripts in case your settings are lost.
Once you have Tampermonkey installed, you can get scripts from GreasyFork. The inimitable @flamebyrd also has some great scripts and bookmarklets and has been incredibly helpful while I figured all this out.
Find a script that looks interesting, click on it, and then click “install this script.” Pretty straightforward. Once you have it installed, you can go to Tampermonkey to configure it (only necessary for some scripts) by clicking on the Tampermonkey extension icon in your browser (under the three dot menu in Kiwi) and clicking “dashboard”, then clicking the edit icon next to the script you want to configure. When you’re done, click File->Save.
Scripts and instructions under the cut
Love finding a writer who goes "not only am I shipping it, I am fixated enough to explore the way their relationship would blow up."
Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1
The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.
So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.
So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.
Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.
And the probe is working again.
From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.
an article on the subject for the curious:
"We're pretty much seeing everything we had hoped for, and that's always good news.”
Sometimes I feel embarrassed about posting so many 'redundant' fics for my rarepair ships.
But then I remember the 'two cakes' metaphor and how there can never be too many fics for a ship even on the same subject.
It's not different just because I'm the only one writing them.

would you rather have one cigarette for 5 dollars or 500 cigarettes for 5 dollars
Right now I'm just thinking about the fact that in Yuuji's domain, Sukuna appears in his Yuujikuna form (rather than his true form).
I guess it feels like there's something (bitter)sweet about Yuuji coming out of everything they experienced with his body marked in various ways by his time with Sukuna (not to mention Sukuna's technique etched into him), and the Yuujikuna form in his domain being a visual manifestation of Sukuna's soul being marked by Yuuji.
Like, not that it's his 'real' true form or something. But that his soul will always remember the shape of Yuuji.
YOU. WILL. WRITE. oh you want to write so bad. all the motivation is here. the plot is so good. words come to you so naturally. YOU ARE GOING TO WRITE. RIGHT NOW.
So, Kita and Daichi… I can’t believe…
This chapter (titled “Creed”, can you believe) is basically a comparison between Karasuno and Inarizaki. The focus is on the captains of each team and their team banners (which could be their “creed”).
Kita’s aware of the similarities between him and the opposing captain; they don’t stand out, but they heavily support their team with receives when the ball gets past the front line.
(And they’re both Wing Spikers who are defence-centric, and they’re both great at looking after their teammates on and off court; there are so many similarities I could mention).
But with so many similarities, there are still some subtle differences. As much as I love the similarities between Kita and Daichi, I really love the difference that this chapter highlights.
Kita feels like, as a captain specialising in receives, he must be responsible for covering every mistake his teammates would make. He believes that that’s his sole role. And unlike most of his team, he wants to play safe to a certain degree.
But Daichi doesn’t believe he has a specific, assigned role. He’s more focused on the overall role of the entire team, which is, quite simply, to score points.
These ideas would clash eventually, when the teams fight for the last point scored in this chapter.
The imagery… the imagery….
Both team banners are displayed: “Fly” from Karasuno and “We don’t need memories” from Inarizaki. Daichi spikes the ball and Kita tries to receive it, but it bounces off and flies into Inarizaki’s banner. The small differences clash here, but it’s Daichi shown to win this time; he’s the one on the offence, doing a back attack, showing how he’s not just there to “protect his team”. To show this victory in ideals, the ball flies into the opposing banner, into Inarizaki’s “creed”.
Both teams will face head on against whatever’s right in front of them. They don’t dwell upon the end result, but rather the actions they’ll act upon in the present. But in this case, Karasuno is shown to win the “philosophy battle”, successfully rising to the challenge right now. And Kita understands how their philosophy (maybe Daichi’s, more specifically) works well.

Had to make an analysis comic for one of my finals last semester and I decided to do mine on the similarities between Arby and Jessica's trauma and how differently it affected them!
I tried my best to mimic the style of the manuscript from the show and although it's not exactly the same I love how this turned out! It was tons of fun to make a comic using paints, ink and pencil instead of digitally for once!
(Also I absolutely hate academic writing so if the words feel a little clunky just ignore it lol)
