I love how Zohran Mamdani is wearing a suit everywhere. And if he has anything else he puts it ON TOP of the suit. A basketball jersey. A high-vis vest. All worn over the suit. Heās like the mayor character in a cartoon whoās always dressed as The Mayor. If I didnāt know who he was and he biked past me in NYC Iād be like holy shit was that the mayor

every year small towns and indigenous communities across canada are burnt to nothing by horrific wildfires and americans go on the internet to complain about it and blame us bc the smoke has spread to their state. iām so tired.
go yell at mark carney or your own local politicians about climate change and urge them to do more to stop it. the namaygoosisagagun first nation had their community destroyed today. you can find a link to donate to them here. donate to your local food bank. go to the beach next week when the smoke clears and you donāt have to think about it anymore while the people whoās lives have been destroyed will have to pick up the pieces and try to move forward when we are already in a huge cost of living crisis across the country.
rbing with other places you can donate to to support those impacted by the fires!
true north aid (an organization aimed at providing support to remote/northern indigenous people in canada)
canadian red cross wildfire fund
ontario spca and humane society (links to their donate page specifically aimed at supporting pets and animals in areas impacted by the fires)
and the anishinabek nationās page where you can donate to support the namaygoosisagagun nation who had their land destroyed by the fires is still accepting donations
After running a thousand errands, working hours of overtime, and being stuck in seemingly endless gridlock traffic commuting to and from their jobs, millions of Americans were disheartened to learn that it was, in fact, only Tuesday.
āTuesday?ā San Diego resident Doris Wagner said. āHow in the hell is it still Tuesday?ā
Tuesdayās arrival stunned a nation still recovering from the nightmarish slog that was Monday, leaving some to wonder if the week was ever going to end, and others to ask what was taking Saturday so goddamn long.

I worry what all this terrorism and communist subversion language is gonna mean for Cuba. If your intentions are to harm domestic āarmsā of Cuban communism or whatever and you already have Cuba under an energy blockade, just seems like thereās gonna be a violent escalation eventually.
if you live in {Not USA} and you make a tumblr post even slightly referencing what time it is where you live you will literally always have to deal with the "lucky 10 thousand" who dont fucking know what a time zone is
some people live places where summer autumn winter and spring do not exist like they do in the northern and southern hemispheres. which is why those tags say "not northern hemisphere". to include people who live on the equator. welcome to the lucky 10 thousand!
hi hi! I understand your scepticism, but I lived Here for half a decade:
and nnno we don't call it "winter" when it's december even though we're TECHNICALLY in the northern hemisphere. because it is 35+ degrees during december and 35+ degrees during july and 35+ degrees every other time of the year as well. so it doesn't really make sense to reference the typical northern/southern seasons when you live right on the equator!
we DO reference seasons as a CONCEPT but it wasn't summer/autumn/winter/spring. it was wet season/dry season. that's it.
idk who needs to hear this but ātexting and drivingā actually is about driving & looking at ur phone for any reason including typing new directions into your damn maps app or choosing a song. stop swerving into my lane looking up a playlist to commit vehicular manslaughter to. āi wasnāt technically textingā aint gonna hold up in court babes
As today is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, itās a great time to revisit Dinah from Devonās memory of this historic event. And yes, still makes me laugh.

Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.
They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.
Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.
You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.
This article specifically notes:
For journalism, activism, or domestic abuse situations, skip Windows and use Linux routed through Tor instead of a commercial VPN. A GDID doesnāt care which VPN you use, only that itās still the same Windows installation.
GDID is the persistent Windows ID that helped FBI trace a Scattered Spider hacker despite VPNs. Here's how it works and how to limit it.
Other important quotes:
What has researchers uneasy is everything else the case reveals. Costin Raiu, a well-known malware researcher, asked on the Three Buddy Problem podcast how much of this exists on other platforms, and whether it is linked more permanently to hardware. Matthew Hickey, another security researcher, called Windows āsurveillance softwareā.
Two things back that up:
Thereās no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Appleās advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Androidās works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.
Then thereās activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: āItās impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].ā Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.

From River To The Sea Palestine Will Be Free šµšøšµšøšµšø
-----
Edit 1: took the first video down because turns out the animator is a terf and it links to her blog. Really sorry for any distress.
Edit 2: All recommended readings + Haymarket recommendations + essential decolonization texts have been uploaded to my linked gdrive. I will adding more periodically. Please do buy or check them out from the library if possible, but this post was made for and by poor and gatekept Global South bitches like me.
Some have complained about the memes being disrespectful. You're actually legally obligated to make fun of Israeli propaganda and Zionists. I don't make the rules.
Edit 3: "The river to the sea" does not mean the expulsion of Jews from Palestine. Believing that is genocide apologia.
Edit 4: Gazans have specifically asked us to put every effort into pushing for a ceasefire instead of donations. "Raising humanitarian aid" is a grift Western governments are pushing right now to deflect from the fact that they're sending billions to Israel to keep carpet bombing Gazans. As long as the blockades are still in place there will never be enough aid for two million people. (UPDATE: PLEASE DONATE to the Gazan's GoFundMe fundraisers to help them buy food and get out of Rafah into Egypt. E-SIMs, food and medical supplies are also essential. Please donate to the orgs linked in the How You Can Help. Go on the strikes. DO NOT STOP PROTESTING.)
Edit 5: Google drive link for academic books folder has been fixed. Also have added a ton of resources to all the other folders so please check them out.
Edit 6: Added interactive maps, Jadaliya channel, and masterlists of donation links and protest support and of factsheets.
The twitter accounts I reposted as it was given to me and I just now realized it had too many Israeli voices and almost none of the Palestinians I'm following, so it's being edited. (Update: done!) also removed sources like Jewish Voices of Peace and Breaking the Silence that do good work but have come under fair criticism from Palestinians.
Edit 7: Complete reformatting
Edit 8: Complete revamping of the social media section. It now reflects my own following list.
Edit 9: removed some more problematic people from the allies list. Remember that the 2SS is a grift that's used to normalize violence and occupation, kids. Supporting the one-state solution is lowest possible bar for allyship. It's "Free Palestine" not "Free half of Palestine and hope Israel doesn't go right back to killing them".
Edit 10: added The Palestine Directory + Al Jazeera documentary + Addameer. This "100 links per post" thing sucks.
Edit 11: more documentaries and films
Edit 12: reformatted reading list
Edit 13: had to remove @palipunk's masterlist to add another podcast. It's their pinned post and has more resources Palestinian culture and crafts if you want to check it out
Edit 14 6th May '24: I've stopped updating this masterlist so some things, like journalists still left in Gaza and how to support the student protests are missing. I've had to take a step back and am no longer able to track these things down on my own, and I've hit the '100 links per post' limit, but if you can leave suggestions for updates along with links in either the replies or my asks I will try and add them.
Edit 15 10th August: added to Palestinian allies list and reworked the Help for Palestine section. There's been a racist harrassment campaign against the Palestinian Tumblrs that vetted the Gaza fundraisers based off one mistake made by a Gazan who doesn't understand English. If you're an ally, shut that shit down. Even if you donate to a scam GFM, you're only out some coffee money; if everyone stops donating to all the GFMs in fear of scams, those families die.
2- Rex it's considerable more chill, he could be like a buffer to anidala explosive chemical reaction. Particularly would be good for Padme so she doesn't have to deal alone with Anakin's bullshit.
3- Them having to deal and navigate the power imbalance. Tasty.
4- It would do good for Anakin to come more to terms with his jealousy and possesiveness, learning love can be shared.
5- Rex could spend significantly more time with Anakin so he doesn't feel as lonely, they could both talk about what they like about Padme as well.
6- Padme and Anakin are intense freaks, so they would love to plan how to surprise and spoil their husband.
7- more healthy. Fluffy. Which isn't to say I don't love fucked up stuff, but when craving the fluff, rexanidala is right there.

Can you even imagine the sheer amount of existential crisis that Leeroy Mateo would go through if he found out that some dilapidated copy of himself was functionally an aspiring mass-murderer (except the āmurderā in question is in some ways EVEN WORSE because it takes prolonged, drawn out psychological torment instead of the relatively-easy-and-sometimes-impulsive action of stabbing someone) over being thrust into ⦠*checks notes* a cartoon world?
Like imagine everyone Abstracts in a slightly different series of events, and Caine, so crazed at the lonliness, brute-forces a way to get out of the computer after beavering and beavering at the problem.
He sends a record of everything that happened to all the real-world humans.
(this can be in a malicious way, like āyou people all drove me to despair for years, choke on the knowledge of this and what you did to each otherā OR it can be a āplease, please tell me what I did wrongā way)
Leeroy Mateo only skims the body of the message and opens these video files and at first doesnāt understand what heās seeing at all. Is this a prank? Some sort of phishing scheme?
And then he starts watching this purple rabbit.
Why does it have eerily similar mannerisms as he does.
Why the f%#k does it say stuff thatās exactly the type of stuff his pre-homeless self would say?
Has someone been stalking him?
Why does it halfway look like the colorful version of a Slenderman?
Has he been watching too many creepypastas?
This goes on for several days
Itās 2 AM, heās sleepy and tired and drifting in and out of reality, but heās riveted.
He starts getting triggered
Reliving the panic of sprinting out of his house
Is this somehow one of those hypnosis videos in the urban legends that are designed to make you go insane?
He goes back into the body of the message. It seems just as improbable as the videos.
Someone is messing with him.
But who?
Heās a nobody.
Doesnāt have any enemies.
And then. A boomer shows up on his doorstep. A haunted look in his eyes.
āOh my god Iām so sorry. I know this is gonna sound bad, but I tracked you with my skills in data management. I think I may have broken a law or two to get here. But I needed to know if you were ok. No kid should have to process this.ā
āIām twenty-two,ā he spits defensively, trying to act tough, this nerd is weasely and skinny and not intimidating at all but heās so on edge heās still on the verge of freaking out anyway.
Grant puts his head in his hands. Takes a breath. āLook I donāt even know what to say now that Iām here. I shouldāve like ⦠practiced or something? Iām sure everyone else is blindsided too, but you were the top priority to get to.ā
He simply stands there. Stares at the stranger on his doorstep.
āYou donāt have any reason to trust me or to confide to me. But, in case you need someone to talk to. Or I can put you in touch with the other ki-,ā he trips up, āthe others, I mean.ā
He hands him a business card.
āMaybe I shouldāve prioritized locating Caine. I have no idea what the AI is capable of now that it seems itās gone through more than two decades of psychological suffering. But, I guess my fatherly instincts just kicked in when I knew there was a human ki- young person struggling out there somewhere. If you see me in the news, itāll be because I didnāt cover my tracks well enough to not get caught locating you, or because some FBI goon snatched me up to consult on how to deal with the āAI threat.āā He pauses. āI am so, so sorry. This is all my fault.ā
