I see people log movies as soon as they finish them and it's like. Ok. We get it. You're performative and you want your 5 Letterboxd followers to think you're cool. Great, good one, but wouldn't you be so much cooler if you pulled out a book and reviewed it so you could actively process what you just watched and come up with your own ideas rather than scrolling on the Letterboxd reviews?? No, that disgustingly mediocre film was not 5 stars, and you know it. It's just that everyone else is reviewing it a 5 for its 'excellent visuals' and 'genius writing' and you don't have a clue on what you just watched, so you're trusting them to form an opinion for you.

Also, what really IS the point? You don't need an app to tell you what your top 4 movies are. Personally, when I have a favourite thing, I remember it. If I enjoyed a movie I'll remember it for life. If I love a book I'll be recommending it to people for ages. I've never had to pull up an app and tell people what those are because I love them so much. If you want to rate something, become a professional critic and make it a career or something. If you just like thinking about what you watched, write it down in a journal and make it a hobby. There's no need for you to pull up an app just so you can say you found the movie boring.
