Here are my Nevermoor Characters are theatre kids headcanons:
Hawthorne - He loves Ride the Cyclone, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Starlight Express, Little Shop Of Horrors and Something Rotten. He also loves Disney and sings Disney songs constantly. Morrigan and Cadence pretend to be annoyed by it, but secretly love it. He likes Newsies too, and once tried to learn the Carrying the Banner choreography and broke something in his room. He is the most obsessed out of all of them.
Mahir - He loves In the Heights. He watched Maybe Happy Ending and then decided to start learning Korean so he could watch it in its original form. He likes to translate musical theatre songs into multiple languages. He tried once with Washington on Your Side from Hamilton, and disappeared for six hours. Francis eventually found him sitting under his desk with his eyes shut, trying to think of a rhyme for the Dragon Tongue word for ‘vacuous’
Francis - He loves Legally Blonde. He’s also watched every episode of the TV series Smash multiple times, and is not afraid to admit it. His favourite song is Let Me Be Your Star. Unit 919 hasn’t told him about Glee’s existence - they’re not sure they’d ever hear the end of it. His parents are big fans of classical musical theatre - Rodgers and Hammerstein, among others - so he grew up around it.
Morrigan - She was initially skeptical of musicals, but now she loves them. She really likes Hadestown. She hasn’t seen it yet, but she likes the sound of Death Becomes Her. She thinks Megan Hilty has an amazing voice, and she should know because she’s listened to Let Me Be Your Star from Smash with Francis many, many times.
Cadence - She really likes Into the Woods. Not the film, the original stage show. She knows the whole of the opening number. She also likes Sweeney Todd, which she and Morrigan went to see a production of together. She, Morrigan, and Hawthorne all went to see Ride the Cyclone on tour together.
Thaddea - Less of a musical theatre fan but can be convinced to watch the occasional Disney musical movie. Her favourite is Brave, and every time they watch it she explains the Scots words and phrases for the rest of the Unit.
Anah - She knows all the words to Six and Wicked, but pretends she doesn’t. Is not-so-secretly a huge Disney fan (particularly Frozen) and frequently duets with Hawthorne. Idina Menzel is her hero.
Arch - He loves Hamilton very much, and has been to see it 5 times with his family. He’s learnt as many of the songs as he can on the violin. He once played in the band for a production of Seussical at primary school, and that’s what got him into musicals. He shares a love of Newsies with Hawthorne, and he does an amazing impression of Race’s “eryster. You know, the fancy clam with the poirl inside” line from King of New York.
Lambeth - She thinks Merrily We Roll Along is super interesting, particularly that the story is told in reverse. She loves Dear Evan Hansen too, especially You Will Be Found. She also likes La La Land.
Fen pretends to absolutely hate Cats the musical. She says it’s offensive and inaccurate. She can, however, occasionally be found listening to Memory.
Miss Cheery (ironically) loves Les Miserables, and enjoyed introducing Unit 919 to it. They went to see a production of it on one of those outing day things. Her girlfriend Roshni prefers the book, but was happy to go too if it meant she could spend more time with Miss Cheery. She likes to host karaoke sessions on home train for Unit 919.
