Summary:
The future of Xadia and the Pentarchy is yet to be determined. As major players age into their roles, or are knocked off the board on which they play, what unfolds proves to be a dramatic show.
Familiar alliances will break and reform. Childhood friends turned enemies may prove those titles to be much more complex. And questions on the true strength and fragility or love and life arise in even the strongest believers.

One day, there was a young girl who lived on a farm with her family. She was a nurse, young and pretty, and conceited to a perhaps forgivable degree.
She found herself lost - alone in a forest of grief. Her friends, her brother, and even the family dog had fallen quite ill and died. Her parents and sister, her naive but kind and gentle baby sister, had fallen prey to a confusing sort of madness. They had lost their senses, and the girl had no choice - for her own sake - to leave her home, and pray most devoutly that they would be rescued.
Only this girl - a young woman, perhaps, only just starting to explore what it meant to be human - had escaped the curse of her family.
Luckily, she'd found herself a respectable job - a lab, only miles upriver from her home, that'd been testing new-age equiment and tools, and something they'd called God's Sword, for the way the strange strip of metal seemed to glow and heat up on its own, and how the water that touched it began to cause strang evolutions in any creature that consumed it.
Surely, only a divine creator's precious tool could have such miraculous effects.

Once upon a time, there lived a Queen of fire and embers. She ruled over a world far apart from our own, and she ruled with pride and dedication. The sparks she summoned from her palms we're a tool she was loath to use, however, as in her eyes this ability reflected her responsibilities and marked her apart from those she protected.
And in her Queendom of peace, surrounded by those who saw her as a tool for their own goals, this Queen grew lonely. She grew distrustful, and protective of her sacred and all-important duties. One duty in particular was of the upmost importance :
The guarding of the Sol Emeralds.
But one day, the emeralds - which ensured stability, life, and Joy to this far away, advanced land - went missing.
The Queen, struck with a sense of loss and guilt for having failed to protect them, left her land under the care of her council of advisors, prayed her Queendom would not fall in her absence, and journeyed after the gems, using the Golden Rings of her people's making, into new, odd worlds.
And now, the lonely Queen found herself in a world of fire and ruin, with only a single ring left, her hope fading. She could go home now, empty-handed, and face her people's grief and anger, or she could leave, try one more world, hoping desperately to find the emeralds among the chaos that undoubtedly awaited her.
But the Queen did not know that among the rubble, beneath the ash and dust, was a savior, meant to reignite her soul's flame, and guide her to her destination, so long as she would follow her new companion on his quest to save his dying world, in turn.
