✨Day One of Elucien Week: Mates✨

There’s just something about SJM mates that feels akin to that of Disney couples. I’ve been dreaming of this commission since I read all the ACOTAR books and couldn’t help but see how much Elain and Lucien’s storyline is similar to that of Sleeping Beauty. From the references to light, the thorns and budding roses of Elain’s mind that only Lucien could get through to, the Koschei-Maleficient parallels, their love of being in nature, and how they are set up to fall in love with each other outside of the fact that they were already destined to end up together by other forces. Also you can’t tell me you don’t see Lucien storming Koschei’s castle to get his mate back just like how he sprinted across the battlefield to get her! Safe to say that with the ACOTAR 6 draft being confirmed done just before the start of elucien week, I am hyped to be able to see the great deal of tension, growth, and healing that they will find together in future books✨

I am so grateful to the incredibly talented @cedakotes . Please give a round of applause to her who it was an absolute pleasure to work with on this project. She made my ideas take flight and added a depth of beauty far beyond anything I could have imagined.

It is known SJM saved sleeping beauty themed pins to her deleted Pinterest. It is also obvious that Elain’s storyline has abundant Aurora references. Which begs the question, who is her Phillip?

Well, in sleeping beauty, Aurora and Prince Phillip were to be married to one another from birth, but fell in love with one another outside of that.

Similar to how Elain and Lucien were mated from birth, but will (as SJM implies) fall in love with one another outside of that.

Bryce and Hunt are (and always will be) endgame for SJM

SJM confirms that the first three crescent city books are Bryce and Hunts story (just as ACOTARs first three books were Feyre and Rhysands) and there are other characters she will write about after them.

SJM confirms Bryce and Hunt are actually mates, like really really and endgame if they both make it to the end
