Restrooms, Janine Teagues’ (Senator’s assistant, you’ll meet her) office, my office, Joshua—” “JACOB! For the last time, Ava, my name is JACOB!” “—Hill’s office, the speech writer. And this…” Ava pushes open the office door just in time to hear Barbara ask the recording technician “Is the mic still hot?” At the shake of his head in the negative, she picks up a stress ball from her desk and flings it against the wall. “ Asshole!” “And this is Senator Barbara Howard,” Ava mutters. She straightens and clicks her tongue. “Barb! Language.”
