The Blue Effect

Hi all, I haven’t been uploading or reblogging in a while (but in a moment, I’ll be reblogging some fantastic Animorphs fanart for you all to see and love. This is still an Animorph blog) mostly because had my focus on another fic in another fandom and progress on my current Animorphs one is slow.

But I had been thinking of making a post talking about my two OCs, V’trix and Elle, in a bit more detail. I have many ideas, even art plans to show them but always held them back cuz I’m still in the current fic (and some thoughts are spoilers for future things). But with it being so long, I want to just share about them. Talk about them, be like any creator who wants to talk about their OCs. But I also have a fear it’d be another too long post you guys might get bored of X’D (and I won’t blame ya. I can zone out too). Plus, I know not everyone likes ocs, hence why I’m making this post.

V’trix is a name that she created herself with Elle’s help. So fun fact. V’trix is actually audiophile; through a host’s ears, she likes many sounds, music, how words sound like and so on. She likes even more certain parts of a word being pronounced.

After she was outcast as a criminal at the same time Elle first got infested by her and discarding her Yeerk name (it’s also been redacted in the Yeerks’ database, showing their complete shunning of her in Yeerk society), it was Elle who proposed giving her a new one. Or else how would she address the Yeerk without a name? Elle basically gave her a list of names to pick from but for some didn’t ‘sound’ pleasing to her or only certain parts of a name did. V’trix liked the V sound and liked the first part of the name, Trixie. So she just decided to combine what she liked together.

Hence her true name, V’trix.

Ok so as I’ve mentioned in the past I’ve never actually read Animorphs, so I’m literally a fake fan, but I found this post and was intrigued enough to give this design a shot. I also used the fan wiki for reference. Probably the biggest change I made was making the hooves mandibular instead of just… absorbing grass… because that strikes me as a really inefficient way to meet your energy requirements as a large herbivorous animal. It was also fun trying to turn fingernails into teeth– I tried to imply an evolutionary history where the six limbs were derived from mouthparts, with similarities between the hands and feet, and the arms remaining in sort of a jaw position.

Summary: It was supposed to be a normal Saturday afternoon. We deserved a break after everything we’ve been through. Then out of the blue, a kid bumped into us with a strange device. A Yeerk device. And the Yeerks want it back from her. We don’t know what’s going on. What that device is. Or how this Controller is connected to everything. The only thing Rachel, Tobias, Cassie, Ax, Marco and I do know is that she might have the answers we need. And she might actually be more dangerous than Visser Three himself…

Since my note regarding my fanfiction writing, I’ve re-evaluated what I wanted for my story idea: a disabled Host with a Yeerk, and reedited the entire story of the Sario Effect thanks to several peoples’ help. I do wanna give a small apology that “here we go again! Another version of this one fic I’ve made” and honestly, I feel the same as you do. This is like the fifth version and I’ve been pulling my hair wondering why on Earth did I not just make this version from the beginning. 

I also want to give a major thanks to two alpha-readers for helping me on this revamp. I will be stating their usernames in the first chp once I start uploading.
