I know we're all sort of picturing Rocky just hanging out fully depressed with 22 dead crewmates for 40+ years but I need you all to imagine, just for a second, Rocky holding 22 heart-wrenching space burials and then having the greatest post-burial crashout mirroring Ryland's vodka party. finally rewatched phm for a third time and now i'm sad thinking about a lot of the people that worked on the hail mary never lived to see the beetles return to earth with grace's discoveries.

scientists like lokken (only having as reference the age of the actress), maybe redell and leclerc (but the book is not descriptive) are older than the rest of the crew.

stratt would be around 72 when the beetles return to earth, but lokken would be around 90, if redell and leclerc are close to that age, then it would be much of the same.

a lot of them wouldnt live to see the hail mary have success, everything they worked for and they will not see it.

lokken who design the centrigufe that allowed to experiment in the hail mary, but wont see the results of her work.

this story gets more tragic as you keep seeing the details behind the main story

New Aroace Ryland Grace propaganda I just thought of. Right after he gets the memory of Yao telling him he just needed someone to be brave for, Grace is writing on his whiteboard again and on there you can see he wrote "made friends on ship?" (Or smth close to that).
