I respect the claim by unreliable narrator book!Grace that he was nearly dying of malnutrition until the Eridians figured out how to create food for him but I would like to offer you my hc that Taumoeba is actually very nutritious and Grace was perfectly fine diet-wise and was, in fact, not suffering from any of the diseases stated in the book. He was merely eating food for the very first time that was completely free of all the chemicals and unhealthy preservatives that US Americans put into their food and since he was not used to the non-artificial taste he decided to be a dramatic bitch about it.
