I love you, vintage gay Pikachu. You’ll find the boy for you, I promise.
today i bring you more space boy. tomorrow? who knows
Okay, I am a fan of spirit of justice, but I do think there was a missed opportunity (a couple actually, but one I want to focus on tonight Major spoliers, you've been warned.) We see Dhurke and Inga both as fathers, and we see how they interact with their children, and there's a dichotomy that I think could have been given more attention.
-Dhurke is a good person, but he's not a good father. (At least, not to Apollo-Yuty is kinda cagy most of the game so its hard to say.) He loves his sons, but his mission comes first. saving his wife and his nation is the priority. Granted, by sending Apollo away he did prevent the kid from being mixed up in a war, but even so, he never explained anything to Apollo, not even as an adult, not until he had to. just dumped him into the foster care system, so long, good luck. No wonder Apollo feels weird about seeing him again, this was his Father! up until he wasn't. then walk right back in to his life-but still not here for him.
-Inga is a horrible, horrible man, but very devoted to taking care of his daughter. he would move heaven and earth for her, to the point of spoiling her quite a bit-despite probably knowing she was amara's daughter, and therefor dhurkes, (though maybe Garan faked pregnancy, i don't know.) he was her DAD. nothing was too much, anything for her. all while maintaining the grip on the nation, and delighting in executions and death of anyone the regime finds "guilty".
And like. I think that's so fascinating, you know? I don't think Dhurke is wrong by any means to prioritize saving his wife and removing Garan from power, but it is a sacrifice he chose to make and even the most noble of goals comes at a cost. One he could have lessened by i don't know. explaining even the simple version to young Apollo, or even getting real with him as an adult, but no. it's not until dhurke is dead that he manages to reconnect, and only because the mission worked out conveniently to do it.
Meanwhile, Inga gets humanized a little, without pretending he's not a gleeful participant in everyone wrong in the nation, welding power like a bat and reminding people that even the most evil humans are still human-a terrifying thing to have to reckon with, that monsters walk around the same as anyone else-and that Rayfa will probably always have complicated emotions about it, since he was all of these monsterous things-and her dad.
Also, why not send Nahyuta? is it because he's attached to the last name sahdmadhi? because he dosn't look american? because he wants Nahyuta to help take back his homeland? what?

Happy Pride everyone, today is the tenth anniversary of the nationwide right to gay Marriage in the United States and the 22nd anniversary of nationwide legalization of Gay Sex. In 2 days is the 56th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.
We have won nothing without fighting and we have everything to lose, there is no gay liberation without trans liberation, none of us are free till all of us are free, we have won so much and come so far but the road ahead is still long, we must continue to fight for both our liberation and the liberation of all people
The gay liberation movement is young, everything we have fought for and won happened over the course of less than a human lifetime, and there are forces at play that wish to claw back at these hard fought for rights, we must be prepared to defend what we have fought for and we must continue to fight for improvement
We have to celebrate how far things have come, because we never would have made it this far without joy and hope, and while we can and must fight, we also must remain hopeful
This year is:
11 years since nationwide gay marriage in the US
23 years since sodomy was legalized
57 years since Stonewall
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!
🫶
This got more traction than I imagined and has motivated me to make a more thorough survey where I can actually parse the data.
No email is necessary to input to complete the survey. Please also consider sharing this off tumblr with people in your life to get a broader sample, especially people who love history and love museums!
Please give your thoughts on Generative AI (such as Sora, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) usage in museums, archives, and other cultural heritage sit
Yo not related to anything but ya'll should way in!
i think the key difference between george lucas’s star wars and disney’s star wars is that lucas is a man with an ideology. someone with a point of view, and all that entails. which comes with ideas of revolution, anti-imperialism, challenging the status quo, cultural appropriation and racist stereotypes. complex and contradictory ideas because that’s how artists are: complex and complicated people. disney is not. disney is a corporation. a corporation can’t have ideology, because ideology defeats the purpose of profit. and when the only thing you do is to turn on the movie manufacturing machine before you sit down and plan what ideas are you trying to convey to the audience, then your results are going to be washed out corporate garbage. and because when you’re a giant corporation who only cares about selling to the widest audience possible, you can’t take sides. you can’t decide on an idea. because you want to sell your product to people who are on the entire political spectrum. which results in movies without ideology, without purpose, without soul.
I have been looking for this post for years after I came across it and it’s finally here and I need to reblog this because it is absolutely and entirely accurate.
#as I always say: lucas was making a samurai film and a ww2 flying ace film and a western film and adding laser swords#because he fundamentally LIKED samurai films and dambusters films and westerns and 40’s adventure serials#but disney are making a ‘star wars film’ and adding nothing because it already had laser swords and they have nothing else to say#xerox of a xerox baybeeeee (via harrietvane)

Babe is feeling a little nervous-very natural. Soon she'll be in a whole house...though admittedly, not a very large one yet
playing stardew again, big day tomorrow
it would explain so much about Gotham economics if it turned out the only employers who pay a livable minimum wage are 1) Wayne Enterprises duh, but mainly 2) all of Gotham's assorted villains.
sure henching comes with shitty working conditions, but the benefits package is crazy competitive. they have dental
Gotham's villains are so engrained because supervillainy is the only thing propping up the local economy. henching requires no work experience, provides on-the-job training, and has a diversity hiring program (you're willing to commit crimes in tacky matching uniforms? great you're in, here's your gun and clownsuit)
Batman is constantly throwing money trying to compete but the fact remains that henchpeople are Gotham's largest workforce and will be until minimum wage laws catch up to reality
even educated jobs in environmental science are probably getting laundered money from poison Ivy. and a lab equipment tech might notice three different jobs are tied to pamela Isley and also happened to receive grants from "unrelated" shady shell orgs and the next one is setting up a temperature controled penguin habitat for some eccentric obvious mobster.
half of Gotham's supervillains have doctorates of course they're also funding the sciences (for crime purposes but still)
we need a new supervillain who gets drawn into villainy specifically to make money for funding grants. they come up with a theme and wacky outfit and loony backstory but at the end of the work day they change back into their alter ego (tired scientist with bags under their eyes and a hotpocket stuck in their labcoat). they're actually very mild mannered irl—the villain persona comes from their background in Theatre Arts
sorry to tack on but i have a folder full of these images bc i collect ones that make me laugh, MY TIME HAS COME

You can really tell who’s never experienced poverty and food insecurity when it comes to discussions around food costs and how unhealthy food is cheaper. Some fucker always comes in with the price of like… lettuce or… apples. And it’s like yeah bitch but can you work an 11 hour shift after eating some salad and an apple!?! Find me something cheaper, and more filling than the broke ass staples of boxed mac and cheese, hot dogs, noodles, bread, beans, and rice. I’ll wait.
It also ignores the mental toll that poverty takes like maybe your home made veggie filled recipe isn’t crazy expensive but it also involves prep time and cooking time and organization in terms of fresh food that a lotta poor people can’t manage.
Not to mention if you can only afford to get to the store once every couple weeks via bus or cab then you can’t keep fresh veg on deck.
But ya know.. poor people are just dumb and lazy.
The other tell (to me) that someone has never experienced poverty or food insecurity is when people are viscerally disgusted by the idea of eating anything past expiration date, God forbid food that was pulled out of the garbage.
I have probably eaten more free food than food I’ve paid for. Because I don’t care if it’s expired or from the trash, as long as it passes the look test, smell test, and taste test, it’s fine.
40% of food in this country literally just goes to landfills because it’s more profitable to destroy edible food that won’t sell than it is to give it away/heavily discount it before it goes out of date.
We could enormously cut down on both food waste and hunger if there were laws passed making extremely heavy discounts on nearly out of date food mandatory.

I reblogged this yesterday, but I want to reblog it again. Diabetic ketoacidosis turns your blood acidic and will essentially burn you from the inside out.
The stories you hear of people dying from rationing, this is what happens to their body.
Affordable insulin isn’t just a right, it’s a necessity.
No one should have to die like that when it’s preventable with access to proper medication.
"Affordable" should be the lowest fucking bar. Pharmaceutical companies should be tripping over themselves to offer insulin at "affordable". That shit deserves to be fucking free
I colored my redesigns (isolated under cut)
