Female ichneumon wasps can look intimidating with their extra long ovipositors trailing after them, but this species made even the researchers shudder when she was discovered in Peru 2018. That's because her ovipositor is weirdly thick. Instead of being a delicate yet sharp piercing syringe, her's is more akin to a Claire's piercing gun.

it walks along the bottom of a river and snatches its prey off the banks. it was born in the headwaters in the first degree stream and now it lives in a broad lowland depositing river, having travelled incrementally downstream as it outgrew its previous habitats. maybe one day it will reach the sea.
