Peal & Co was an early innovator in bespoke leather shoes with a waterproofing patent and a system that could duplicate a handmade last up to eight times on a copying lathe. They became well known for comfort and durability, increasing in high-profile popularity including names like Walt Disney, Steve McQueen, and Sir Laurence Olivier. Become a worldwide name, salesmen would travel the world tracing clients feet for them to receive their shoes from the factory 6 weeks later. The company was eventually bought by Brooks Brothers after not being able to continue a line of skilled craftsmen causing slowing delivery times and the eventual close of the factory. This historical lineage still trickles through Brooks Brothers, and also appears through Foster & Sons after Peal’s last maker brought the companies final lasts over to Foster & Sons.

The Hill-Side are always keeping on top of things. The world has been waiting for someone to make the next step in bomber jacket trends. This isn’t strictly a bomber jacket but re-inventing the N-1 jacket (or J-1, as they are going for) is going to create some ripples. It really extends from the massive military green/orange bomber that has been so popular of late but this is a nice addition to mix things up a bit. It definitely wont be long before you see more green nylon N-1 style jackets popping up even if heritage brands have been knocking out the canvas, wool, or felt ones.
