words i'd like to remember

the universe has to give you permission to move on from something. if it was up to me, i would just decide to be fine the hour after something happened. but it's not that easy.

there's nothing cool, there's nothing mysterious, it's just fucking heartbreak and i'm gonna do all the things i need to do to get through it. it's corny though, it's fucking corny.

i always want to run toward the thing that feelings challenging and scary and exciting

to keep myself challenged within this medium that i love so much, it is about making these really strange choices and not having them impede on a song being super catchy and feeling like a pop song

the parts change hands and take over from each other in the ways that they do and how it's not immediately clear why they're doing that to a listener

i really felt the intensity and severity of being on the cusp of a breakup like that, and wanting to stare down at that person and tell them everything that's happened since they left your life

you're in this fog of grief and you can't construct any linear thoughts

i need to put relationships in a box so i can sleep at night and they won't do it for me

when i experience something that i know i'm gonna write about, it feels very quiet and focused. and there's almost this feeling of relief, or just knowing, this feeling--almost like a of purpose, a feeling of purpose--of being serene with myself because i think my purpose in life is to write, so when i get those moments when i'm about to write i'm like 'ah, this is what i'm doing' and it's very serene. and maybe it's a coping mechanism. maybe when i feel these extreme mad or sad emotions my body was like 'i need to turn this into something productive in order to deal with it.'

i am not one person... i am many people in one body

it's not violence towards anything or anyone... it's just this scream, i don't know what the scream is about, i don't know what it's at, what it's for, but it's there and i'm just trying to express it in the best way possible

i spent all my teenage years being obsessed with beauty. i'm very resentful about it and i'm very angry. i had so much intelligence and energy and drive and instead of using that to study more, instead of pursuing something, instead of going out and learning about the world, changing the world, i directed all that fire inward and burnt myself up and tried to make myself beautiful and perfect.

there's a feeling of being able to reach my younger self and redo my life through younger people

i want to communicate to the best of my ability what it's like to be alive and feel alive... that's the reason i live

if you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. go a little bit out of your depth. and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.
