Of course Peony’s interpretation of this (once he drags it out of Jade) is that he’s jealous and in his own way he definitely is, even though in a literal sense he isn’t. And also he has the answer to who, not because Saphir told him but because he actually paid attention to their friends while Jade was on his fomicry doom spiral, and Saphir wasn’t actually that good at keeping secrets.

Of course, learning who doesn’t actually help whatever he’s feeling so he does actually bring it up oh so casually but Saphir is like “You’re still thinking about this??? First of all, I was a 16yo little gay boy in the military desperately in love with a sociopath* of COURSE I went on a date with the first boy who showed me attention.
