every time dan talks about how much having phil in his life at that point when they first start talking online in 2009 meant to him......how he grew up in an incredibly homophobic environment and phil being there both online and eventually in person helped him feel safe for the first time since he was a child and that he finally felt accepted by someone in his life and on top of that how phil was so nice and patient and genuinely just so fun to be around.....a literal ray of light in his life....

that video was such a beautiful ode to their main channel content btw. dan doing skits. phil making concoctions (snokoplasm!!). really happy to see the first official video as DanAndPhil is more authentically them than ever before, with all the same things we know and love

fr though i am genuinely so proud of dan and phil for finally trusting us with this, and i’m equally proud of the fandom for taking the steps needed to become a safe space for them over the years. as someone who’s been here for 11 years, it feels so good knowing we’ve all worked together to create space where they feel safe enough to share such a vulnerable part of their lives with us after spending so long feeling like they couldn’t. the amount of love i have for the two of them and the world they’ve created for all of us is immeasurable.

listening to dan talk about how he was suicidally in the closet just to have all of these people prying into his personal life to the point that it made him paranoid to even be happy with phil and then phil say that he effectively went back into the closet so he could keep his relationship with dan and listening to dan apologize to phil for that when people should have just been less invasive in the first place is like. my god. i feel like that visceral image of the stick figure beating someone to death. they shouldn’t have had to deal with all of that
