Party of Four is an adult (18+) interactive fiction game with RPG, romance, and dungeon break themes written in ChoiceScript.

The known world of Vert is at peril from the appearance of portals: vortexes of mana that open into a land of dungeons separate from yours, filled with traps, mazes, and monsters. The populace is in constant fear of monsters that escape the portals and roam across the landscape. Your world relies on two things: the Heroes who band together to enter theses dungeons and close the portals, and the Gods who Mark them.

Lmao this asks makes me want to say that I do have a friend who is so irrationally scared of sharks that she showers with a steak knife... just in case one comes in through the drain pipe. Also we live in the most landlocked area of the U.S. lol

Jem: would worry about MC's like... mental state, but still does his best to help them avoid all the lettuce and barrels that he can.

Raena: is ready for this. She's always putting herself between MC and every barrel or lettuce stall. It's second nature for her at this point.

Vana: has no idea what to do. Suggests exposure therapy maybe? She's not sure how to protect MC from lettuce when there are real threats out there.

Linzel: finds it mildly amusing, though isn't the greatest when it comes to avoiding potential confrontations with the Dreaded Objects. Fancy would be better at that job.

Maymie: claims that it's ridiculous but then would become the embodiment of the no pickles meme whenever someone tries to offer MC lettuce

Aslo: confused about how a fear like that would even happen, but offers to fight every barrel and head of lettuce for MC to try and lift the mood.

For the most part Vana is submissive in the way that she needs rules and permission to do things both in every day life and sexually. Once she has those things, though, she is far more stubborn and confident in what she does!

How would the girls feel about pegging a femboy MC (would they be the ones to suggest it or would MC)

Hello dear pegging/strap anon(s?)!! I've put all these together to make... a pegging/strapping masterpost it seems. 🤭

I think all the girls would be willing to wear a strap for MC though the willingness scale would look something like Maymie > Vana > Raena (she'd be shy about it at first haha).

Maymie: Wouldn't suggest pegging first, but she would for strapping. She'd enjoy it a lot and would be rather domineering. As for specifically pegging femboy MC, she'd get a kick out of it and would very much enjoy calling him pretty and teasing him the whole time.

Vana: Wouldn't bring up either pegging or strapping unless asked first, then she'd agree to it without hesitation. She'd be into it, probably more than she'd like to admit haha. For femboys or pegging request she'd probably feel weird about it at first since she's used to the idea that anyone with a penis just wants to make kids, so asking to be pegged goes way against that assumption haha. She'd enjoy the shift in power dynamics though.

Raena: Pegging or strapping would never cross her mind unless someone else brought it up first. She'd reluctantly agree to it if MC seems like they really want to try it. Uhh she'd probably suck at it, but she'd make up for it due to her desire to please. For femboy MCs specifically she'd probably be caught off-guard and try and think of all the moments from the past that could have led to this (and can think of none), but will humor him out of the goodness of her heart lol.

Tbh is a pity, if its cause is difficult to put so many variables (like one scene for female mc, another form bottom male mc and another top male) fair enough, but if that's the case why not do like other authors and make the scenes static and just vary them? If there are four NSFW scenes in the whole game, the first MC is bottom, the second is top, the third bottom, and the fourth top, for example.

Aslo is my fav so far, and I completely understand that authors like their characters to have their "preferences" since it adds realism, but by making it immutable (this character is 100% top or bottom) 1) you force the main character to be a kind of wildcard who only adapts to the tastes of others and has no personal preference 2) there will be readers who don't feel represented

Hello!! I've gotten similar asks about this before, but I completely understand!

Now that I've written more material for Aslo and his character has become far more solidified in my mind, I'll try my best to explain my reasonings for his lack of bottoming!! He's the kind of guy who is extra sensitive to being perceived as masculine and fears it being undermined, which stems from his insecurity/brother complex about his older brother who is a leader, and taller, and generally seen as Big Strong Man. It's one of the reasons Aslo will also have flavor text for masculine presenting MCs (regardless of gender). And because he's somewhat... simple minded, he views bottoming as the submissive role, which hurts his ego.

Tbh, depending on how the romance arc goes with him, I could actually see him eventually switching into a more verse role for a specific type of MC. Probably for masculine presenting and tall or very tall MCs, since he could accept switching for someone who matches his ideals for masculinity and he wouldn't feel like he'd be losing some kind of manly contest. 🤔

I really gotta find the time to read dungeon meshi because it looks right up my alley and a few of my friends keep nagging me about it.

Rat Fancy; I think would talk about what smells good and what doesn't all the time. She'd sniff something or someone and say, "I like this! Sweet! Yummy!" or "I don't like it! Stinky!" Somehow, I feel like having a big rat say they don't like the way you smell is a grave insult...

I don't think Bat Fancy would talk much but if she liked someone enough I could imagine her demanding them to pet her or to carry her by letting her cling to their rucksacks haha. "Scritches time? Petting time, now!"

LMAO never apologize! That last Vana ask was great and I think it was just that it was written in such a greatly (maybe unintentionally!) comedic way where the lead up feels sweet then it hits you with the unexpected lmao. I had a really good laugh about it!

Ugh love strong women types and especially lady knights. I have always loved Eowyn the shieldmaiden from LotR and would model so many characters from RPGs after her haha (especially my Dragon's Dogma pawns. Watching her pin harpies to the ground??? Amazing).

Jem: I do still think he'd stay on the premed track! Alternatively: religious studies. Both suit him in that they're degrees that have an expected route to take while also serving the community. Plus no one would give him side-eye for picking a useless major.

Raena: Physical Therapy or I bet she'd get a Philosophy degree while coasting on a full ride athletic scholarship for women's football/soccer. Probably doesn't actually know what she wants to do after she graduates except try out for a national team or coach.

Vana: Would get into law, probably with the goal of becoming a Judge rather than any kind of lawyer. The title would make her parents mildly happy and it'd fit well with her strict personality. Would add an extra week of imprisonment for any guilty party that says, "on god" in her courtroom.

Linzel: Probably something like Civil Engineering. He likes order and planning and cities (just not really the people in them that much). Also the projected salary would be more than enough to convince him. That quiet kid who wears flannel every day and volunteers at the animal shelter.

Maymie: PolySci or marketing or both. She just wants to make a lot of money and she wants to stick it to the man while she does it and politics is a great way to do that. She would spend her days vaping with the rich kids and shaking down nerds for their meal tickets.

Aslo: I'm torn on this one because I can see him going into Early Education and hanging out with kiddos and scaring new parents on the first day of school. I can also see him doing something unexpected like Anthropology or Sociology because he's a people person but doesn't really care enough for how they work/think individually to get into Psychology. Would probably have a part-time job as a rock-climbing instructor.

But man, this is a tough question. As someone that majored in English Lit. (0/10 unless you have a huge boner for Shakespeare. he is my immortal enemy) and also Linguistics, all I know is how to read books and pretend to care about Noam Chomsky, so this is far out of my wheelhouse lol. Jem - Trauma Surgeon probably! Likely went on a very uninspired premed program because that's just what he's supposed to do, right?

Raena - big agree that she'd do something in Peds. I could see her in Orthopedics. Likely went for an undergrad in physical therapy.

Vana - Definitely either neurosurgeon or cardiologist. Both are Very Important and would be enough of a prestigious title to make her parents mildly happy. Likely did a biochem undergrad because people think it sounds hard.

Linzel - Can he be a veterinarian? Lol I struggle to see him care about humans enough to want to spend so much time healing them. 😂 Also does an undergrad in biology with a focus on animals.

Maymie - I could absolutely see her as an enterprising celebrity plastic surgeon lol. Probably did an undergrad in communications or marketing.

Aslo - would make the best Nurse, hands down. Great at lifting things and bedside manner??? Can survive for days on caffeine and alcohol alone??? Would make a point of wearing a pink stethoscope.
