Person 1: So, gender is a matter of presentation and expression, not a matter of biology.

Person 2: No! Gender’s just about your genitals.

Person 1: Then, WALL-E’s nonbinary. He doesn’t have genitals.

Person 2: No, WALL-E’s a boy.

Person 1: Then gender is a matter of expression an-

Person 2: No! Gender is just biological!

Person 1: Then WALL-E doesn’t have a gender

Person 2: No! He’s a boy robot!

See, we have this concept called “bodily autonomy.” It’s this….cultural notion that a person’s control over their own body is above all important and must not be infringed upon. 

Like, we can’t even take LIFE SAVING organs from CORPSES unless the person whose corpse it is gave consent before their death. Even corpses get bodily autonomy. 

To tell people that they MUST sacrifice their bodily autonomy for 9 months against their will in an incredibly expensive, invasive, difficult process to save what YOU view as another human life (a debatable claim in the early stages of pregnancy when the VAST majority of abortions are performed) is desperately unethical. You can’t even ask people to sacrifice bodily autonomy to give up organs they aren’t using anymore after they have died. 

And here’s another point: When you say that “rape is the exception” you betray something FUNDAMENTALLY BROKEN about your own argument.

Because a fetus produced from sexual assault is biologically NO DIFFERENT than a fetus produced from consensual sex. No difference at all.

If one is alive, so is the other. If one is a person, so is the other. If one has a soul, then so does the other. If one is a little blessing that happened for a reason and must be protected, then so is the other. 

When you say that “Rape is the exception” what you betray is this: It isn’t about a life. This isn’t about the little soul sitting inside some person’s womb, because if it was you wouldn’t care about HOW it got there, only that it is a little life that needs protecting.

When you say “rape is the exception” what you say is this: You are treating pregnancy as a punishment. You are PUNISHING people who have had CONSENSUAL SEX but don’t want to go through a pregnancy. People who DARED to have consensual sex without the goal of procreation in mind, and this is their “consequence.”

2. No guarantee that my husband’s name will sound good with my first and middle names, and honestly, that matters a lot to me. 

3. I don’t need to change my name to know I’m married.

4. I don’t want to marry a man who thinks me taking his last name is so important - there is way more to a marriage than that. 

5. I will have a Bachelors’ Degree by the end of this year, and I got it with my current last name, and that will be the one on my degree and that I go by professionally, so why bother changing it. 

It’s also been bothering me that people are using the terms “social distancing”, “self-isolation”, and “quarantine” inter-changeably, when they really shouldn’t be. The more we use “self-isolation” and “quarantine” as a substitution for “social distancing” (which is what most people should be doing, self-isolation means ZERO contact with anyone, mainly due to having been diagnosed with Covid-19, being in close contact with someone who was diagnosed with Covid-19, or recently returned from outside your home country), the more scare and confused people will be. 

bake a loaf of bread ! read a book & drink some tea ! plant some flowers ! return the life god’s head to its body and reset the entire world to its natural state ! learn something new !! go for a walk !!!!
