Legendary fantasy artist John Blanche has died. He is known mostly for his long association with Games Workshop, where he served as art director and created many of the iconic images that shaped the Warhammer and 40K worlds. He was capable of working in diverse styles, but much of his art and his own creative miniature conversions made his name synonymous with the "grimdark" aesthetic, mixing elements of moody gothic architecture and body horror with a limited color palette.
He also contributed to GW's UK edition of Dungeons & Dragons, Fighting Fantasy and Sorcery! books, and other books and album covers. Wombat Games recently published an authorised biography, Blanche: The Rise of Grimdark. A skirmish game, John Blanche's En Garde, is in development with a setting and visual style based on his art.
At a certain point an Admech has to get frustrated enough to employ percussive maintenance, right? There's only so much chanting over the air conditioner you can do before you start throwing hands with the machine spirit.

trazyn and orikan got fucking divorced
I hate the "I hate labels" crowd. A "label" is just a descriptor. You use the word to quickly and efficiently describe what/who you are, rather than needing to tell an entire life story. If you want to be label-less/unknowable that's great, but don't be surprised when people don't immediately understand you. My labels are not a box they're a method of communication.
If I tell you "I am a heterosexual woman (meaning, a woman who is exclusively attracted to and only dates men)." I am not restricting myself the possibility of dating non-men, because that wasn't an option in the first place. The label does not determine my attraction, I determine my attraction and then I seek out a label which accurately describes said attraction.
If you feel boxed in and/or trapped by labels, maybe try identifying what your attraction (or gender) is first, and then find a label which accurately describes said attraction/gender. Use them descriptively not prescriptively.
I also find it very interesting how this crowd only seems to emerge during discussions of lesbianism. As in, you're only anti-label once a lesbian is describing her exclusivity towards women. It's very similar to how the gender abolitionost crowd exclusively emerges during conversations surrounding trans women.
Could it be, misogyny? Transphobia? Cissexism? Homophobia? Lesbophobia? Transmisogyny?
No no, you just purely in good faith take umbrage with how lesbians and trans women (and trans lesbians) describe themselves, for no external reason.

random PSA, I know a lot of people use duckduckgo as a Google alternative search engine, but it always kind of annoyed me when I was using it because it felt like No Name Brand Google
I have switched to using Startpage.com and vastly prefer it. for one thing, instead of displaying an "AI summary" at the top of the search results (unless you turn it off, yes I know), it displays the first paragraph of the Wikipedia article, with link, whenever it finds one that's relevant.
also a waaayyyyy better sense of design than duckduckgo
also private, European based, least annoying search I've used lately (RIP old "don't be evil" Google)
Keeping a list of Google alternatives just in case…
i have one of those, scraped from multiple different rec posts:
Search Engines
Infinity Search is an alternative search engine with a special focus on privacy
DuckDuckGo is a popular search engine for those who value their privacy and are put off by the thought of their every query being tracked and logged. Uses bangs, ![site] for in-page search (sells your data to microsoft and draws from fucking bing)
WolframAlpha is a privately owned search engine that allows you to “compute expert-level answers using Wolfram’s breakthrough algorithms, knowledgebase, and AI technology.” A data search engine.
Boardreader is a search engine for forums and message boards. It allows you to search forums and then filter down results by date and language.
Based in France, Qwant is a privacy-based search engine that won’t record your searches or use your personal details for advertising. Uses “&” as a bang search.
Another privacy-based search engine is Search Encrypt, which uses local encryption to ensure that users’ identifiable information cannot be tracked. Metasearch across multiple engines.
Offering unbiased results from several sources, SearX is a metasearch engine that aims to present a free, decentralized view of the internet. Can be self-hosted.
Gibiru’s tagline is “Unfiltered private search” and that’s exactly what it offers. Requires AnonymoX Firefox add-on for privacy.
Disconnect allows you to conduct anonymous searches through a search engine of your choice.
Swisscows provides fully encrypted searches to protect your privacy and security. Built-in violence/porn filter cannot be overridden.
MetaGer offers “Privacy Protected Search & Find” through its anonymised search. A plugin will allow it to be made a default.
Gigablast is a private search engine that indexes millions of websites and servers real-time information without tracking your data, keeping you hidden from marketers and spammers. Variety of filtration and refinement options for searching.
Oscobo is a search engine that protects your privacy while you search the web. By not using any third-party tools or scripts, your data is protected from hacking and misuse. Has a Chrome extension to allow use in toolbar.
https://search.marginalia.nu/ an independent DIY search engine that focuses on non-commercial content, and attempts to show you sites you perhaps weren't aware of in favor of the sort of sites you probably already knew existed. Use old-school searching rather than query-based for the best results.
https://www.mojeek.com/
https://wiby.me/ - It’s goal is to index as many personalized websites as possible, and NOT commercial sites.
https://4get.ca/ it works a lot like SearX, but honestly better. It doesn’t have its own index, but pulls from many others. I think it’s the best for research, since it allows you to search for answers from different indexes, is easy to configure, add free, and avoids censorship as much as it can.
https://www.searchenginemap.com/ for more on how search engines relate to each other.
https://yep.com/ is a crawler
https://www.etools.ch/ retrieves from Google, Mojeek, Bing, and Yandex, like Searx
https://www.dogpile.com/
https://searxng.org/ (next gen Searx)
https://luxxle.com/ - possibly conservative?
https://presearch.com/ - good for academic?
https://kagi.com/smallweb - free/randomised Kagi.
Other Searchers
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.

Do you ever get sick of people asking you if the imperium woudl actually do an evil thing, when it's clear the imperium is super evil?
Mmm, no. I think, with the way the Imperium's evils are often presented in media (casually, as a ground level, accepted part of the setting) that people don't often really consider what those evils say about the broader Imperium, or Imperial culture.
The easiest example I always use for this, which is in basically every Imperium-related piece of 40k media somewhere, is servitors.
The Imperium is a place where, if you commit a crime, an infraction, or inconvenience the wrong person, it is acceptable (and sometimes encouraged) for you to be lobotomised and turned into a piece of property. A slave. A braindead slave. This is, simply, horrifying. This is unconscionably evil. This is beyond the pale levels of fucked on so, so many levels. It goes against morality, humanity, empathy, and common fucking decency. It is methodical and deliberate in stripping a person of everything while still making them useful to an authoritarian regime.
"Braindead slave" in the best case scenario, as an aside. Sometimes, by accident or by design, you're still aware enough to experience the unending horror of being trapped in a body that no longer belongs to you.
So yeah. If ever you ever want to ask yourself "would X fucked up thing happen in the Imperium?" just remember that servitorisation is a very common, very acceptable, sometimes mandated process in the Imperium.
